What is a customer specialist?

By Zippia Team - Dec. 17, 2021

A customer care specialist is the first person a customer speaks with when they need to resolve an issue. Customer specialists may deal with customers having a variety of problems, including but not limited to:

  • General questions

  • Complaints

  • Issues with a provided product or service

  • Refund requests

  • Help with technical issues

Customer specialists may provide a higher level of support than general customer service. Usually, in call centers, one particular customer specialist will most likely work with a customer to solve one or a multitude of the customer's problems. They may go into more detail as a result.

A customer specialist also acts as a filter for higher management. One of the main reasons for a customer specialist is to accommodate customers with their possibly more straightforward, less involved problems so that upper management doesn't have to. This results in upper management being able to dedicate the time required to address more complicated customer inquiries.
