**Primary Responsibilities**
+ Demonstrate the capability to compile, reduce, format, analyze, and present test data.
+ Aircraft Survivability Equipment testing, including but not limited to, qualitatively and quantitatively assess sensors, jammers, software upgrades, and other aircraft survivability systems.
+ Apply practical knowledge to flight testing principles and concepts applicable to the developmental and system qualification testing of DoD aircraft.
+ Provide traceability from requirement to technical specifications.

+ Assists other engineers in the design and execution of tests, analysis of data, and the reporting & documentation of results, including the interpretation of the significance of the findings.

**Basic Qualifications.**

+ Proficiency in MATLAB, with additional experience in Python, R, or MATLAB, is a primary requirement
+ Experience with data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, Tableau)

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a motivated Ocean Modeling and/or Data Assimilation Researcher to join our growing team at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) at Stennis Space Center. This role supports cutting-edge research focused on improving ocean model capabilities and assimilating new, high-resolution observational data to support the Navy's Earth System Prediction Capability (ESPC) and global forecasting systems.
As new instruments deliver unprecedented ocean observations, we need experts to help process, integrate, and innovate-pushing the boundaries of coupled ocean-atmosphere models and real-time ocean prediction.
What You'll Do:
You'll contribute to one or more advanced research projects, collaborating with a team of scientists and developers. Responsibilities may include:
Writing and optimizing Fortran code for Navy Data Assimilation systems
Developing code for ensemble-based data assimilation frameworks
Designing schema for processing remotely sensed ocean observations
Creating and testing algorithms for operational and research-grade ocean models
Conducting evaluation and validation of model enhancements
Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific conferences
Qualifications
What You'll Need:
MS in Oceanography, Mathematics, Physics, or related field (PhD preferred)
Proficiency in Fortran, Python, and MATLAB
Experience with Linux, shell scripting, VSCode, and High-Performance Computing (HPC)
Strong understanding of Numerical Methods, Ocean Modeling, and Data Assimilation
Familiarity with U.S. Navy ocean modeling systems
Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Prior experience in a Department of Defense research environment is strongly preferred

Target Salary Range $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. The Business Analyst Intern will be responsible for supporting the business needs and will evaluate and implements process and technology solutions. The position will be involved with analytical design, business process analysis, project management and technology work. This is a temporary position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Interns are required to be fully available during Week 1 (May 18--22) and Week 12 (August 3--7) of the program. Week 12 includes company-paid travel to an APTIM office (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.
Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed).
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Drives the deployment of new applications and systems
Determines and documents user requirements for business processes and develops standard approaches that are scalable across business locations
Creates direct channels of communication to application developers
Ability to define test plans and cases.
Develop test cases at the application and integration levels.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
