What You Will Do
* As the F135 Fleet Data Management Customer Data Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring that data is aligned across multiple platforms and that transactional data in the system of record reflects all available content. OVERVIEW
AT CR we know there's more to testing cars than measuring how the rubber meets the road. In addition to testing 50 vehicles a year (driving them hundreds of thousands of miles), we also dig deep into the data--churing through reams of reliability and satisfaction surveys collected from our members, as well as external data, to supplement the analysis, evaluation and rating from our test drives. The information we share helps consumers make fully informed choices about the purchase and maintenance of their vehicles.
The Automotive Data Analyst and Content Researcher will report to the Associate Director, Automotive Data Integration. In this position, you will oversee the collection, validation, and internal processes for the various auto vendor and CR survey and testing data. Working closely with other auto team members, you will apply your data management expertise to ensure that our auto data collection is consistent and our analysis is accurate.

At CR, we test products and services so consumers can make informed decisions and use their buying power to help create a marketplace that puts them first. Partner with Auto Test engineers and technicians to translate individual tests to ratings.
Collaborate with Data Engineering to assure the database is optimized for the auto test and publish program.
Ensure the Model Year Vehicle data is updated to reflect the latest information for on-line articles and reports.
Identify and map various external and internal data feeds to provide comprehensive data for consumers and clients.
Maintain quality and integrity of data in the Cars Database.
Identify trends from our extensive automotive data and outside sources and submit concise reports with data and graphics.
Utilize AI and data visualization tools for understanding and presenting large datasets and information.
Follow automotive news and changes in industry and individual models.
Help identify which new vehicles should be tested or updated.
Work with and support the Program Leader, Auto Data Analytics to process survey data and to provide insights and data for articles, videos, and social media.
Assist the Associate Director in assessing new data needs and identifying the best methods to capture and incorporate in the database as well as report mechanisms.
Update written road tests for publishing on the Consumer Reports website.

What You'll Do
Architect & Innovate: Design and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for ingestion, integration, and storage of structured and unstructured data.
Enable Analytics: Deliver clean, reliable datasets for Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Data Science teams.
Optimize Performance: Implement modern practices using Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI Premium, and big data frameworks like Spark.
Ensure Quality: Validate solutions through rigorous testing and maintain data integrity across all systems.
Collaborate & Lead: Partner with Product Owners, Architects, Analysts, and Data Scientists on medium-to-large projects, and lead small-to-medium initiatives independently.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Automate processes, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for scalability.
What We're Looking For
Prefer 4 year/bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years relatable work experience
Ability to design and optimize SQL queries across cloud data warehouses, with strong proficiency in T‑SQL.
Skilled in data orchestration and ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory or SSIS, and eager to adopt Fabric Data Factory (Pipelines & Dataflows Gen2).
Background in CI/CD and version control for data solutions (e.g., Git, deployment pipelines), with interest in DevOps practices for analytics platforms.
Familiarity with modern data lake architectures, including Delta Lake and medallion design patterns.
Knowledge of columnar storage formats and lakehouse technologies such as Delta Lake and Parquet for scalable data processing.
Hands-on work with big data frameworks like Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala) for batch workloads is helpful.
Understanding BI and semantic modeling concepts, including star schema design and performance tuning is helpful.
Compensation, Grade, and Job Title will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and technical skillset.
Well qualified candidates may be considered for a data engineer IV.
