Job Summary
The Recovery Coach leads and supervises clients in the long-term/IOL program, providing guidance and
oversight of activities during the work shift.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty

ï§ Lead and supervise clients in the program on the living and programming floor(s), and during all
duties and activities during the work shift.

ï§ Monitor evening lights out, and conduct morning wakeups to include cleanup, breakfast, and
morning devotions (more specifically to overnight staff).
ï§ Complete room and person searches to ensure clients are in compliance with program
guidelines and document any non-compliant findings.
ï§ Oversee client visitation with family members and people from the community.
Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):
ï§ High school diploma or (GED) required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ï§ Must be able to meet at least one of the following requirements:
o a course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a bachelor of
arts, bachelor of science, or associate's degree; or
o one year of experience with vulnerable adults; or
o experience as a certified peer specialist according to MN Statutes Sec. 256B.0615.
ï§ Must be comfortable working with people with life-controlling challenges, including mental
health and addiction.

C. Medical
1. Log all client medical occurrences (illnesses, injuries, and reports of illness) in the clients medical logs; documentation of an illness or injury must be made at least daily until the condition has resolved
2. Complete and pass the Medication Administration, CPR, and First Aid courses
3. Ensure that the procedure for medication administration and documentation is clearly understood and implemented in full compliance with physician prescription, established policy, and medication administration programming. Request clarification and retraining from the Program Coordinator or Designee as needed.
4. Complete and chart on all health care procedures as assigned (e.g. weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, nail care, menses, elimination habits)
5. Successfully complete all required site-specific medical equipment training
6. Accompany clients to medical appointments as requested; facilitate the appointment as necessary, and follow company policy on documentation of the visit
D. Community Integration and Social Supports
1. Guide clients in interacting positively with friends, peers, family, the community, staff, and other professionals; model positive behavior for clients
2. Facilitate client relationships with family and friends as much as possible, per the clients individual plan
3. Assist clients in developing and using effective and varied leisure time management skills
4. Assist clients in selecting, coordinating, and participating in a variety of activities

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Visual/auditory ability to identify/respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
Some physical requirements of a Resident Counselor position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, bats, etc.
TRAVEL Camp Pepin Resident Counselors who have proper driving authorization may take children on day and overnight trips, depending on skills, knowledge, and personal job duties within camp. Counselors may also be required to travel to Red Wing areas to retrieve a van from the Red Wing Area Family YMCA fleet. QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age (Resident Counselor)
Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR (camp will provide certification).
Preferred if staff will obtain or become Lifeguard Certified (camp will provide certification).
Ability to schedule and supervise children.
Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
Ability to interact with all age levels.
Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
