The primary goal of this position is to help individuals build strong social skills and encourage independence while creating an environment that allows the client to thrive. Must provide support to ensure the client can attain self-direction, inclusion, personal fulfillment, and productivity in all life areas.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Plan and provide active care for designated clients, wherever needed. Develop an individualized approach to client care by providing instruction in communication skills, daily living skills, socialization skills, fine and gross motor skills, perceptual skills, and any other areas based on programming and client needs.
Must remain actively engaged with all clients. Clients may have medical and/or behavioral needs that will require some form of care.
Document the major activities and supports provided for client(s) in daily notes. Complete all documentation in a professional, accurate, and timely manner according to agency standards.

Physical activities may include but not be limited to: lifting up 25-50 pounds (depending on client); bending; reaching; stretching; grasping; visual acuity; walking; squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, crawling, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, guiding, transporting and wheelchair securement. Provide first aid and physical assistance to the individual as needed.
Use of medical adaptive equipment including, but not limited to: wheelchair, Hoyer lift, shower chairs, blood sugar testing equipment, CPAP, oxygen, BP and any others required.
Monitor physical condition of the client's home while ensuring a safe and sound environment. Be willing to clean all areas of the house and conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness.
For the safety of our clients you must be punctual and have consistent attendance. This includes the ability to work irregular shifts outside the standard agency operating hours including weekends and holidays as necessary to meet the needs of the clients. Must be willing to work at different directcare locations within the agency, as needed.
Maintain professional communication with client, family members, and other stakeholders.
Remain awake and available to support the client at all times during scheduled hours.
Attend meetings and trainings as authorized.
Participate in client-related meetings, as requested.
Route all persons served receipts to the Client Benefit Specialist.
Display a team-oriented, cooperative attitude while maintaining a positive working relationship with co-workers, supervisory staff, and clients.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:
Must be able to work with occasional high noise levels, potential exposure to bodily fluids, pests, contagious pathogens, and/or bed bugs, and potential exposure to physical or verbal aggression.
Must be able to climb stairs on an occasional basis to access work areas.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong teamwork skills.
Possess and maintain reliable transportation that meets state requirements, preferred.

Plan and provide active care for designated clients, wherever needed. Must remain actively engaged with all clients. Clients may have medical and / or behavioral needs that will require some form of care.
Document the major activities and supports provided for client(s) in daily notes. Complete all documentation in a professional, accurate, and timely manner according to agency standards
Input documentation into Accel of clients programming including but not limited to: behavior, seizures, accidents/incidents, and progress on objectives on a daily basis.
Must be able and willing to use personal cell phone as needed, or company device as available for time entry.
Responsibly pass or monitor medication administration based on needs of the client.
Must be willing to drive / take clients to appointments, work, and other daily living activities.

CCAR Industries is hiring part-time Direct Support Personnel (DSPs) in our Residential Program.
Schedule:
Primarily morning, evening, and/or overnight shifts on Fridays Saturdays, and Sundays.
Part-time staff can work toward full-time positions as they become available.
Extra hours are available throughout the week for staff would like to fill-in for co-workers.
Responsibilities:
They assist a small group (2 - 6) of residents to help them meet their personal goals in their homes and in the community. Common tasks may include helping with personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and going on community trips to restaurants and other locations in agency-provided vehicles.
DSPs are also asked to make brief, daily notes on each resident's progress.
Requirements:
Valid IL Driver's License
GED or High School Diploma
Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
Experience providing support to individuals with disabilities or similar experience is preferred.
Availability:
MUST BE AVAILABLE to work at least
one shift
during two out of these three holiday seasons: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
Must be available to work at least one weekend shift on 3 weekends per month.
Staff are required to complete 120 hours of paid training, unless they are already DSP certified.
Earning Potential:
This position starts at $17.75 per hour as staff members receive 120 hours of paid training to prepare them for their job duties.
(Individuals who live in a college dormitory that makes them unavailable to work during holidays and summers would start at $17.25 per hour.)
Once training is complete, Direct Support Personnel earn $18.25 per hour.
(Individuals who live in a college dormitory would earn $17.75 per hour once training is complete.)
Pay Schedule:
Every two weeks with direct deposit available upon request
