We are currently seeking dependable Emergency Medical Technicians that can work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. As an EMT, you will respond to medical transport calls and provide basic life support to sick/injured persons in pre-hospital settings. A basic EMT will start out on our convalescent side and work to gain the experience needed to move over to 911 in the future. Shifts are six days a week, closed on Sundays, with varying hours mostly 12 hours or more without 24-hour shifts. We run 6 trucks a day and do 20-25 calls. Job DescriptionDescription:Overview: Paramedics respond to medical and traumatic emergencies and provide basic and advanced life support procedures and transportation to the most appropriate facility. CITY OF GALLATIN Performs protective service work in fire suppression, emergency medicine, rescue, property conservation, and fire prevention activities. Perform as a first responder to provide basic life support and emergency care to victims of illness or injury. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. 1. Perform regular/routine safety checks and maintenance of firefighting tools, equipment, and apparatus. 8. Perform general maintenance work in the up-keep of fire department buildings and grounds. 9. Regular and predictable attendance. 10. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS: * High school diploma/GED. * Successful completion of Fire Recruit School approved by the State of Tennessee * Must be certified by the Tennessee Commission on Fire Fighting as a Fire Fighter II. * Must be, and maintain, a licensed Basic Emergency Medical Technician by the State of Tennessee. * Must be qualified by the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency at the Hazardous Materials Operations level. * Must complete FEMA online courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800. * Must meet and maintain qualifications and training standards as established by the Department and the State of Tennessee. * Must have a valid driver's license with "F" endorsement if Tennessee resident or equivalent with out of state driver's license. * Must meet physical standards established by the Gallatin Fire Department. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects while wearing protective equipment that can be heavy and hot. Additional physical demands include carrying 80-100 lbs. of equipment while working; climbing many flights of stairs, ascending and descending on ground ladders and fire escapes; and working at heights and in confined spaces to fight fires and rescue victims. Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, night vision, peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Generally, work from an office or vehicle, but may be exposed to extreme outdoor elements for an extended period of time. May come in contact with bio-hazardous materials and waste, by-products of smoke, narcotics, hostile individuals, and individuals with contagious diseases. May be exposed to extreme situations including direct exposure to fire, chemicals, poorly lighting, and hazardous sites. The general work schedule requires 24-hour shifts, assigned on an alternating basis with two days off between assignments. While on duty, employees live and sleep at the fire station. MOTLOW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Adjunct EMT-Basic Instructor/Coordinator (pool) Campus: Any Salary: $500-$700 per credit hour Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. Motlow positions are contingent upon funding availability and budget approval. General Function: EMT-Basic Instructor/Coordinator shall mean an individual responsible for the overall coordination of the EMT-Basic Program.
