1977

In 1977 the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) launched Government Accountability.

Founded in 1977, Government Accountability Project is the nation’s leading whistleblower protection and advocacy organization.

1978

In 1978, recent law school graduate and current CEO, Louis Clark, joined Government Accountability Project as staff counsel.

1984

In January 1984, Government Accountability Project officially cut its ties with the Institute and became fully independent.
