Position Summary
Henry Ford + MSU is embarking upon a major strategic growth plan to add up to 60 new open rank faculty positions over 6 years across a range of departments. We currently seek exceptional researchers with a record of innovative in-silico, patient-oriented, or population science, and history of research funding commensurate with rank. Successful candidates will join our Detroit campus and be expected to collaborate closely with clinicians and scientists in Detroit and across the entirety of Henry Ford and MSU. Outstanding candidates in all specialties will be considered, especially those applicants focused on neurosciences, cardiometabolic health, women's health, or musculoskeletal health, as well as precision health/data science.
Ideal candidates are highly productive, research intensive, and mission driven, with a strong desire for their science to have a timely clinical and/or community impact. Applicants must have a PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent. Applicants at the Associate and full Professor/Scientist levels should have a record of sustained extramural funding and high-impact, peer-reviewed publications. Assistant Professor/Scientist level candidates should have training and research track record consistent with a career path that will lead to extramural funding as an independent investigator. All successful candidates will be expected to maintain robust extramural funding, with federal funding as a cornerstone of their research programs and be actively engaged in elevating the Henry Ford + MSU partnership.
Positions are jointly funded through Henry Ford + MSU, and candidates may be hired by Henry Ford Health or Michigan State University with a secondary, no-pay appointment at the other institution. * Essential Functions

o Perform cardiovascular stress testing procedures including Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms and Exercise Stress Echocardiograms. Uses cardiac imaging contrast agents, when necessary, on suboptimal studies.
o Utilize physiologic recorders and follows accepted techniques for assessment of extremity arterial blood flow assessments.
o Assist the physician in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms.
o Perform necessary diagnostic measurements and calculations according to accepted industry standards and department protocols.
o Obtain accurate and pertinent patient medical histories for presentation to reading physicians. Document technical findings appropriately. Prepare preliminary reports for physician review.
o Utilize independent judgment to contact reading physicians to relay preliminary technical findings consistent with acute and potentially life-threatening situations.

2nd Avenue Dialysis is a 48-station unit operating three shifts, six days a week handling complex patients from ages 20-90 years old. Many require assistance with mobility devices. Operating hours for patients are 5:00 am - 9:00 pm and team members 4:15 am to 9:00 pm. Employee schedules are made through several shift designs. Patients are medically managed by 9 Nephrologist and 2 Full Time Advanced Practice Practitioners (APP) We have Registered Dietitians and Social Workers plus a Social Worker Tech that helps with concrete patient needs such as transportation or dietary needs. Unit staffing includes a Nurse Manager, 2 Full Time Nursing Supervisors, many Registered Nurses, and Dialysis Clinical Technicians. We have additional support staff of Biomed Techs and Dialysis Assistants overseen by a technical leader.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for all aspects of nutritional needs of dialysis patients. Works closely with the interdisciplinary team members in order to care for the dialysis patient. Develops a close working relationship with other dietitians in order to facilitate information flow and educational efforts.
* Interviews patients (and others as relevant) for initial and update assessments.
* Assesses patient's initial and ongoing nutritional status.
* Calculates, prescribes and instructs others regarding diet for patients.
