The Fellowship is 9 months in duration and will occur at the Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, CO.
APP Fellows rotate through six departments within PMHI gaining exposure to patients across a broad range of ages and diagnoses.
One month of elective allows APP Fellows to return to a department within PMHI of their choosing while integrating additional clinical experiences outside of PMHI.
Learning collaboratively with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Physician Fellows, APP Fellows will have one half day per week of didactics from experts in child and adolescent psychiatry.

PMHI APP fellows will have the opportunity to teach and mentor PMHNP students and develop preceptor skills.
PMHI APP fellows will complete a capstone experience, initiating or supporting quality/process improvement project within PMHI.
Structure and Clinical Rotations· Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (IPU): 2 months· Neuropsychiatric Special Care (NSC): 2 months· Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP): 2 months· Emergency Department/Consult Liaison (ED/CL): 1 month· Eating Disorder Program (EDP): 1 month· Elective: 1 month· Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic: One afternoon per week throughout the Fellowship The elective month will provide PMHI APP fellows the opportunity to receive additional training in the PMHI department of their choosing.

1. Providing direct personal unskilled care and hygiene assistance to residents following assigned resident Care Plans, (i.e., bathing, oral care, nominal to severe incontinence care, dressing, grooming, etc.), as well as assisting and monitoring residents during meal times (including, but not limited to, support, oversight, cueing, etc.).
3. Properly communicating the needs of both residents and staff to ensure good customer service and the overall well-being of residents, natural supports, staff and vendors.
4. Completing required documentation promptly, accurately, and legibly.
5. Providing basic behavior management interventions (i.e., defusing anger, redirecting, offering alternative solutions and providing positive guidance for our residents) associated with characteristics of brain-injured individuals. Risks include sexual, verbal, and/or physical aggression that may be exacerbated by co-occurring mental illness, substance abuse, etc.
6. Maintaining professional boundaries with residents, co-workers, and outside agencies associated with any Hilltop program while maintaining the dignity, confidentiality, privacy and rights of every individual.
7. For Care Specialists assigned to overnight shifts, may be required to drive residents to and from offsite locations using handicapped-accessible vehicles, up to and including 12-person buses.
8. Assist in performing housekeeping duties as needed to maintain cleanliness of resident apartments and surrounding grounds. This may include, but not limited to, trash removal, cleaning up bodily fluids (i.e. blood, feces, urine, vomit, etc.) while using the proper Personal Protective Equipment and disinfecting standards, disinfecting, cleaning wheel chairs and walkers, and organizing apartments.

What Your Days Will be Like:
As a Caregiver within our Care for Business team, you will have the opportunity to care for children of multiple families in your area! Acceptable criminal background check
Ability to successfully complete QMAP and First Aid/CPR training within 90 days of hire (paid training)
Ability to assist clients with social interaction skills (e.g., talking, writing, leisure activities) and daily living skills (e.g., dressing, bathing, eating, cooking, cleaning)
Administer medications according to State of Colorado approved guidelines
Ensure client schedules are implemented in a timely fashion as designated by the SP and/or Manager
Observe clients for signs of illness or changes in health, demeanor, and behavior, and report according to protocols
Use agency vehicles to transport individuals served to and from day programming, community employment, community activities, and appointments
Ensure a healthy, clean, and safe environment
