The Medical Interpreter serves as a cultural and linguistic resource to both patients and providers by facilitating the successful delivery of patient care service to a linguistically diverse population. In this role the interpreter participates as a neutral party or as the conduit for information that must flow between Carle staff, and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients and/or their care providers.
Qualifications

Responsibilities
Facilitates communication between Carle staff and LEP patients in variety of modalities including in person, over the phone and video relay. Ensures that information pertaining to the patient's outpatient services, hospitalization, (i.e. advance directives, consents from treatment, diagnosis and prognosis, treatment plan, follow-up appointments and Health Care Education) are accurately communicated. Successfully complete the core Interpreter Services training requirements. Represent Interpreter Services and the organization in a positive and professional manner, exercising discretion at all times. Participate in on call coverage to provide interpretation services during non-business hours and business hours as assigned. Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to patient care and visitor issues with LEP patients and their caregivers/families/escorts. Promote customer satisfaction related to Carle services; notify Supervisor of any issues that may be problematic for patients or Carle staff. Participate in continuing education programs and competency training to enhance professional role of Interpreter Services.

Compensation and Benefits

Job Summary:
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
Operates specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
Maintain daily log of productivity.
Performs related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The teacher is the educational leader in the classroom and will ensure that the Sioux City Community School District programs and curricula are implemented in a way that maximizes student-learning experiences. The teacher is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of all students within his/her teaching assignment. Job Overview:
The Interpreter provides interpretation for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals, their families, clients, and staff. In various settings, including medical, legal, educational, and social services, the Interpreter advocates for LEP individuals' access to the full range of services available. By providing intercultural mediation, the Interpreter assists professionals in delivering culturally sensitive care, support, and instruction. A commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience, maintaining privacy and safety, and fostering a teamwork spirit is required for this position.
Job type: On-site (in person)
Location: Madison, WI
Schedule: It is usually during regular business hours (8 AM - 6 PM), some Saturdays. Appointments are based on the client's needs.
Rate: it depends on the experience and certifications (if any)
Background and experience:
Work Experience: 1+ years of interpreting experience or a successful internship program required. Experience working in medical, customer service, legal, or educational settings is a plus, depending on the type of assignments we have available.
Certifications: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Other certificates are a plus, like CMI, CHI, CCHI, 40-hour interpreting course, among others.
Fluency: in both spoken and written English, as well as the language of interpretation, is essential, with a preference for native-level fluency in the language of interpretation. The position requires professional-level interpreting skills and the ability to perform short non-publication translations.
