Job Summary:
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Punjabi - Eastern Dialect to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Punjabi - Eastern Dialect and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
Operates specialized software equipment provided by the government to include JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at their assigned site.
Maintain daily log of productivity.
Performs related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language

Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.

Must be able to meet contract requirement of a score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English

Artificial intelligence developments are upending the scientific landscape and creating unprecedented research opportunities in linguistics. This is a fast growing research area that is leveraging powerful generative AI models to serve as robust artificial model systems for human language and cognition.
The University of Michigan will recruit four researchers in artificial intelligence-related research, as part of a cluster of new AI-related positions in the Departments of Linguistics, Psychology, Philosophy, and Psychiatry. All four faculty will also have the opportunity to affiliate with the Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science.
We seek outstanding applicants with a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field whose research engages with artificial intelligence in linguistics and language cognition research. We encourage candidates who apply computational methods to linguistic research and engage with different perspectives on the contributions and implications of artificial intelligence, including generative AI, for linguistics. The Collections Interpreter is a unique opportunity for an intellectually curious and outgoing person to help support the work of Cranbrook's newest programmatic division by offering public and private tours of Cranbrook's architecture and campus-wide collection of Cultural Properties. The Center's Collections Interpreters develop and present tours and programs related to Cranbrook's architecture, historic collections, and history for a variety of constituents. Collections Interpreters are expected to demonstrate a mastery of the tour content and have excellent presentation and large group management skills.
General Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
