What You Will Do Some core responsibilities for a Civil Foreman include: * Strong knowledge of carpentry, tools, procedures, and best practices * Ability to lead crews * Must be willing and able to conduct morning production meeting with crews to discuss daily plans and concerns * Assign job tasks to each crew member and ensure that each member is properly trained * Must be able to coordinate work according to priorities and plans * Being a safety role model for the team * Enforcing OPD and client specific safety policies and procedures on the jobsite. * Anticipate and recognize potential safety and environmental concerns and report them to the OPD Superintendent. * Communicate and coordinate with OPD Superintendent, Logistics Manager, Construction Manager as required for material requirements and to schedule concrete pours and order rebar for delivery. * Verify forms and concrete are set within client specifications. * Must be competent with excavations, trenching, and soil. Must be able to plan equipment, soil treatment, and safety considerations for all planned civil work. * Must be able to lead by example and with respect * Must contribute and maintain a clean job site * Must be able to use a computer to write daily reports, employee discipline, JSAs, and use e-mail. Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools. POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY The O&M Foreman is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by planning, organizing, and executing the day-to-day onsite operations and maintenance (O&M) of the project. LOCATION This position is based in Lake Charles, LA. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Subject Matter Expert (SME) for onsite O&M activities. Supports and aids with O&M subcontractors onsite. Oversee the daily operations and maintenance activities, ensuring they are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards and regulations. Maintain daily operational logs to meet O&M activities to ensure compliance with the contractual agreement. Assistance with the preparation of the O&M reports for Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (LADOTD) and the Developer. Track and analyze equipment and facility performance data to identify issues, enhance efficiency, and improve reliability. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Quickly respond to breakdowns or emergencies, mobilize resources, and implement corrective measures to restore operations safely. QUALIFICATIONS At a minimum, the O&M Foreman must have a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 10+ years of relevant civil experience within concrete, structures, roads, and/or marine and 3+ years of experience as a Foreman or other leadership role in field operations, while being responsible for leading and managing a multi-discipline work force on a large-scale project. The O&M Foreman must also possess a valid and current driver's license. Directs a crew in raising, placing and uniting girders, columns and other structural steel members to form completed structures or structure framework. Should be familiar with steel drawings being able to derive location, orientation and other necessary practices to direct a crew in completing job tasks in a timely, safe and efficient manner. RESPONSIBILITIES * Plans and directs a crew(s) work and timelines on completion of tasks assigned. * Sets up hoisting equipment, raising and placing structural-steel members, with basic rigging knowledge for raising an placing structural steel members. * Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope. * Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel members. * Guides member, using tag line in order to guide it into position. * Pulls, pushes or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device. * Forces members into final position, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools. * Aligns bolt holes in steel member using drift pins or spud wrenches. * Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level. Bolts align members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place. * Cuts and welds steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies. * Loads, transports, unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies. * May assist in lifting, positions and securing of materials and work pieces during installation. * Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment. * Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
