About the role: The Foreman assists the Superintendent by providing leadership and being responsible for, although not limited to: scheduling, planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control and ensuring the safety, consistent and fair application of all OBR policies and procedures, proper training and productivity of crews at the worksite who erect and repairs cooling towers. The Foreman must work with the Superintendent to assure the job is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to OBR quality standards. Specifically, the Foreman is responsible to lead groups of cooling tower technicians to make sure tasks assigned by Superintendent are executed properly. This position may require extensive travel depending on project location. Occasionally, a Foreman may be required to manage an inspection or small project without supervision. Note: This role may involve extensive travel, depending on project locations. Roles/Tasks of the Position: Always work safely and follow safe work procedures. Manage job in the absence of the Superintendent Oversee field subcontractors Reads blue prints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of the structure or fixture Select lumber and other materials to be used on the assigned job Prepares layout, using rulers, tape measures, framing square and calipers. Oversees marking, cutting and assembly lines on materials using pencil, chalk, and marking gage. Oversees the shaping of materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and chainsaws. Oversees the assembling of cut and shaped materials Alignment of mechanical equipment and performs piping Assists with the erection of framework Fits and installs material as needed Work at heights as needed while observing 100% tie-off Conducts daily and weekly Safety meetings Completes incident reports as necessary Additional tasks as assigned by Superintendent or Field and Area Managers Education/Experience: High school diploma, or equivalent 5 years in field cooling tower construction. 1 year (minimum) as a foreman in cooling tower construction (or promoted through OBR Cooling Towers, Inc. training process). OSHA 10 Certification Certification in CPR and First Aid TWIC card Rigging, forklift, and man-lift certification Other Qualifications: Knowledge of Windows-based applications Ability to select and use proper tools Knowledge and application of safety standards through OSHA training and experience. Foreman Report to: Superintendent The foreman position will direct operations that produce a safe, productive, and efficient construction site. Foremen are responsible for instructing the crew how to operate heavy construction equipment to meet or exceed production goals. They will appropriately identify individuals whose performance exceeds classification and standards and nominate them for advancement or recognition. Additionally, they will hold crew members accountable when not meeting standards and use corrective discipline per policy and guidance. Foreman will be assigned a crew leader to mentor and provide appropriate feedback regarding their performance. All foremen will receive an iPad and a cell phone and be assigned a company truck. Safety training by the company will be required for all team members. Out-of-town work is probable and may require travel of up to three weeks away from home at a time. Dependable attendance and punctuality are critical. Responsibilities Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures. Knows the safety procedures and performs thorough reviews of the operator/user manuals prior to operating any power tools or equipment. Ensures all crew members familiarize themselves with safety procedures and perform thorough reviews of the operator/user manuals prior to operating any power tools or equipment. Completes daily job reports, tracking production, tracking/reporting crew hours and equipment hours via HCSS Heavy Job software on a company provided iPad. Completes SLAM books, Task Hazard Analysis Forms, daily safety briefing, and pre-work stretching program. Develops and executes future crew tasks to ensure projects are completed. Instructs the crew how to operate heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently. Instructs the crew how to install water, storm sewer, and sewer pipe and associated structures. Instructs the crew how to form, pour, and finish horizontal and vertical concrete structures. Ensures completion and recording of daily inspections on all equipment. Coordinates and assists with material ordering and other logistical requirements. Drives, cleans, and maintains the company truck. Keeps the company truck supplied with commonly used supplies daily. Travels to and from various job sites as needed. Progression Team members are eligible for promotion to a foreman position upon successful completion of a period as a crew leader, the achievement of favorable performance reviews, and a good work history. The need for foreman positions will be determined by the director of field operations and the general superintendents based on forecasted project demands. Foreman positions may be advertised to external/internal candidates if deemed warranted by the general superintendents and director of field operations. Education and Qualifications Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required. The average work week would consist of 5 ten-hour days, but schedule will be dictated by project needs. Must be able to work out of town, sometimes out of state, and for lengths of time, such as the job would dictate. A high school diploma, GED, or trade school certificate is preferred. Your skills and certifications are valuable, and Kwest recognizes it. Any special certifications or skills that are constructive to the position responsibilities will be taken into consideration when reviewing wage classification. Clean driving record. Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations. Work environment will normally be an active construction site. Exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, and rain should be expected. Employee must be physically able to perform repetitive motion and heavy lifting, as described below. Must be able to maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties. Must wear all employer-mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety-toed work boots. Other PPE may be required from time to time depending on special safety concerns. All PPE will be provided by the company at no cost to the employee, other than safety boots. Must be able to hear with or without the use of a hearing device and clearly see at least 30 feet with or without the use of corrective vision lens. Must have knowledge of occupational hazards in this field and standard safety practices. Must be able to pass the 30 Hour OSHA testing and First Aid/CPR requirements before starting work. In this role, the Carpenter Foreman will oversee production, quality, and safety under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. The Foreman will play an essential role in ensuring the successful completion of all work by providing hands-on support and guidance to the team. This includes assisting in training apprentices, journeymen, and other field personnel to ensure all tasks are performed safely and with high quality.Primary Responsibilities Understands how the Carpenter interacts with a Laborer during the tank building process and can direct the work as required. Establishes crews, assigns responsibilities and follows through on assigned work to meet the project timeline. Reads and interprets tank drawings and construction information package to ensure work is performed according to specifications. Inventories material upon delivery to ensure components comply with the contract drawings prior to signature. Involved in daily closeout meetings with the Superintendent providing an update on the day's activities and needs for the following day. Follows quality control (QC) program, understands construction tolerances, and reports any quality defects immediately. Checks and confirms elevation grades and plumbness on critical tank components. Follows and upholds safety procedures and understands DN Tanks safety policies. Identifies hazards, takes action to correct them, and is responsible for recognizing those who do the same in accordance with the Award of Excellence (AOE) Program. Promotes clean, safe work practices by watching over other employees while performing work. Provide coaching and training while motivating the team to produce quality work and ensure all safety standards are met with all individuals on the project. Maintain all certifications in compliance with DN Tanks Safety & Equipment Programs. Performs all jobsite layout utilizing survey equipment under direction of the Superintendent. Supports the training program by working closely with other traveling tank builders and utilizing all resources available in DN University. Qualifications Operate and maintain DN Tanks tools and equipment. Ability to travel to project sites throughout the United States at the direction of the Field Operations Manager. Ability to climb and perform tasks at heights on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, shoring, and scaffolds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc. Ability to complete DN Tanks crane certification. The Labor Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of labor crews on construction projects to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage resources and schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other foremen to ensure project milestones are met. Train, mentor, and evaluate laborers to build a strong, productive team. Monitor use of materials and equipment to prevent waste and ensure proper maintenance. Identify and resolve issues that could cause delays or safety hazards. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of construction labor experience, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of construction methods, tools, and equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Commitment to safety and quality. Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (minimum requirements as follows): Lift 50lbs from the ground and pull 50lbs of force. Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25lb tool belt. Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions Physical Demands The physical demands described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role on a construction site. This role requires significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. Constant standing, walking, and performing repetitive physical tasks are required daily. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team lifting techniques. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces. Visual acuity (including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus) is essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety. Adequate hearing (with or without assistive devices) is required to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy environment. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this role at a Clark Construction site. The employee will regularly work outdoors and may be exposed to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. The work environment frequently involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards. Work regularly occurs at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud, requiring the consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, and adherence to all Clark Construction's comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
