Purpose Assist an interdisciplinary research team in the Bipolar Disorder Center / Almeida lab at Dell Medical School, Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin with collecting and analyzing psychological and neuroimaging measures for the bipolar and major depressive disorder population. Responsibilities Develop, collect, conduct, and analyze research projects including psychological measures using standard interviews (self-report and/or clinician based) and neuroimaging measures as part of a team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants. Assist with data entry and database management. Assist with IRB submission & management Review medical records and conduct screenings for study recruitment. Execute data collection procedure and assessment and assist with subject recruitment, including obtaining consent of research subjects. Help with subject management, scheduling and reimbursement. Provide exceptional and tactful support to research subjects via phone, email, etc. Assist with manuscripts and publications (authorship will depend on candidate's initiative). Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of research experience in psychiatry, psychology, public health, social work, counseling, or related discipline. Compassionate with a professional demeanor, showing tact and respect at all times. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various delicate, formal, or urgent situations. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Outstanding organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work well with a broad group of individuals including faculty, staff, and students, including the willingness and ability to train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students. Must be comfortable interacting in an interdisciplinary setting and interacting with people living serious mental illness. Experience with obtaining and/or analyzing neuroimaging measures (MRI, EEG, etc.) and/or administering neuromodulatory interventions (TMS, etc.). Experience with data entry, ideally in REDCap. Strong computer skills with a variety of programs. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree with relevant laboratory experience in clinical research and/or mental/behavioral health field. Experience designing and managing REDCap database. Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis. Experience with analyzing psychological and neuroimaging measures for the bipolar and major depressive disorder population. Prior experience with peer-review manuscript preparation and/or presenting at research conferences. Experience communicating with/submitting to/preparing documents for institutional review boards (IRBs). Phlebotomy experience & certification, biospecimen processing/shipping. Experience collecting vitals and ECG data from humans.     The LSUHS induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) core is dedicated to advancing scientific research and innovation in biomedical research. Our team of experts collaborates to push the boundaries of knowledge in iPSC models. We are seeking an enthusiastic Technician with experience in iPSC to join our team. As an iPSC Core Technician, you will be critical in supporting our translational research efforts. This position is ideal for individuals with early career experience in stem cells, particularly those with hands-on experience with iPSC maintenance and differentiation. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating, maintaining, and differentiating iPSCs lines, conducting gene editing experiments and contributing to our research projects. The fellow will work closely with attending neurosurgeons and faculty researchers on a variety of clinical projects, including outcomes analysis, surgical technique refinement, and studies focusing on cerebrovascular disorders (such as aneurysms, AVMs, and bypass surgery) and skull base tumors (including meningiomas, schwannomas, and chordomas). Responsibilities will include: * study design, data collection, * statistical analysis, * manuscript preparation, * video collation and editing, * and presentation of findings at national and international conferences. The position offers comprehensive mentorship and support for fellows interested in pursuing future clinical or academic careers in neurosurgery. Opportunities for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and for authorship on multiple publications will be available. The PI will provide all training as well as support in applying for extramural and intramural postdoctoral fellowships. Salary will adhere to NIH guidelines. Qualifications * M.D., M.B.B.S., Ph.D., or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in medicine, neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or a related discipline. * Prior research experience, preferably in clinical or translational medicine. * Demonstrated experience with data analysis, literature review, and manuscript preparation. Preferred Qualifications * Research experience focused on skull base or cerebrovascular surgery. * Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. * Familiarity with clinical databases, imaging analysis, or biostatistical modeling. * Experience with IRB submissions and research ethics compliance. * Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in academic neurosurgery.
