OBJECTIVE
The ResearchAssociate 1 will oversee research projects within the lab, providing scientific oversight, guidance to lab members, and lab management in the absence of the principal investigator. The ResearchAssociate will design and plan projects, oversee collaborations, oversee/supervise staff and students, and fully execute research projects. The ResearchAssociate 1 will utilize a multitude of techniques such as cell culture, molecular biology, histology/microscopy, and animal studies. The ResearchAssociate will keep the PI informed of progress of research projects and provide recommendations on experimental design and project plans. The ResearchAssociate will independently prepare manuscripts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Independently and with the principal investigator, design, plan, and execute research projects. Perform analysis of cell culture and in vivo experiments, using techniques, but not limited to gene expression analysis, rodent surgeries/ cell and gene delivery, histology/microscopy, stem cell generation and differentiation. Maintain accurate records of data and provide findings and recommendations to the PI based on analysis (45%).
2. Independently author research projects. Assemble data and make publication-quality figures from analyzed data. With the highest level of integrity and responsible conduct of research, participate in writing manuscripts as a first author and co-author for discoveries from research performed in the lab, together with the PI and other lab members (10%).
3. With the principal investigator, establish goals and objectives for the efficient and timely completion of projects. Meet regularly with the principal investigator to review and set priorities, staff/student-related issues, and future research staff and planning. Provide scientific oversight of all research projects, including data collection and maintenance. Establish and manage the day-to-day priorities of the research staff. Supervise and mentor research assistants and technicians. Supervise Coordinate experiments performed by other lab members, ensuring adequate resources, assisting with experimental design and analysis. Oversee progress of the research projects and provide regular progress reports to the PI; and provide input and recommendation to principal investigator regarding significant developments in research projects. Ensure the PI is informed about the results of lab members, and ensure the PI's experimental strategy is explored by lab members and through independent experiments by the ResearchAssociate (10%).
4. Present data and findings at laboratory meetings and scientific meetings, seminars, etc. Prepare manuscripts, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals (10%).
5. Mentor and train lab staff and graduate students; oversee research work and ensure projects are being completed according to the research plan. This will involve teaching other members of the lab techniques and scientific discovery methods, including students and post-docs. Assist and teach both established and new research techniques to other lab members to facilitate their experiments. Coordinate trainings for lab members with EHS and others as needed (10%).
6. May Supervise research assistants and technicians. Supervise the research and technical work performed by other lab members, ensuring proper lab procedures are followed, and their safety, and ensuring adequate resources are provided for lab work (10%).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Supervise laboratory staff including research assistants and technicians. May supervise ResearchAssociates within the lab. Oversee all lab members including postdoctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of 1 to 5 years of related postdoctoral experience required. Experience in the field of biological sciences, molecular and cell biology preferred.
Education/Licensing: PhD required. Preferably in biological sciences - molecular and cell biology

This position will conduct research, innovation and development of new grower-focused products. Areas of focus for the Greenhouse Research Technician role will include (but not be limited to):
Conducts and assists with research experiments in the greenhouse for propagation, container production of bedding plants, or hydroponic production (deep-water culture and nutrient film technique) of bedding plants or leafy greens.
Manages greenhouse environmental controls.
Will contribute ideas, experiments and findings to research peers on a weekly basis.
Plans and runs greenhouse trials by setting up, trial maintenance and data collection, followed by data entry and analysis. Presents findings and data to research team.
Maintain trials, including irrigation, scouting for pests, and application of plant growth regulators and/or insecticides as needed for healthy crop production.
Pour-through methods to measure pH and EC of pot leachate.
Document trials with photos at the beginning and end, including photos of individual plant treatments. Transfer photos to computer and annotate/label crop photos.
Reads and reviews research literature to generate innovative ideas for new product development.
Identifies production or post-harvest related problems within industry, reviews literature to learn possible solutions and uses the information to improve or develop product solutions.
Aseptic culturing techniques (including media).
Maintain greenhouse and lab areas in a clean and organized manner.
Maintain inventory and requisition supplies and chemicals.
Who We Are Looking For:
An individual with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in horticulture, environmental sciences, biology or botany is preferred.
An individual who has a minimum of 1 to 2 years greenhouse floriculture or CEA experience is preferred.
An individual with knowledge of greenhouse operations and management is preferred.
An individual who has experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and SAS statistics is beneficial.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Client Consultation
Advise clients on bat conservation considerations for site development.

Field Work and Surveys
Conduct presence/absence surveys (as permitted) for bat species using methods such as mist-netting, acoustic monitoring, and other methods.

Work Environment
This candidate will need to collaborate effectively with team leads and other staff. This candidate needs to be able to complete project work independently, with minimal supervision. This position consists of field work and office work. On an annual basis, work duties could be up to 50% field efforts and 50% office. During the field season, approximately April/May through October, this position could expect to work up to 75-100% in the field. Field work assignments may include consecutive days working outdoors with a field crew in all types of weather conditions and sometimes in remote and challenging locations. A typical field workday consists of 8-12 hours which may include irregular hours and weekend work. Overnight travel and working for extended periods in different states is project specific but may be required. Office work assignments occur throughout the year and may include field preparation, data analysis, report writing, or equipment maintenance and typically consists of an 8-hour day.
This position is a remote role, meaning employees will work remotely. Standard office equipment will be provided to work in the office and at home - a dedicated space at home to work is also required. Working under general supervision, the Research Assistant 2 will plan and carry out research project in accordance with general research guidelines. The research assistant will work closely with other lab members and focus on research involving molecular biology of cardiac muscle contraction. This position will perform a wide array of cellular and molecular biology experiments using gel electrophoresis, western blots, bacterial transformation and culture, and other in vitro techniques. The research assistant will use various molecular and computational methods to bridge the gap of understanding between structure and experimental observations in cardiac muscle physiology. This position will work with animals.

* Plan and carry out research projects that characterize the roles of myofilament contractile proteins in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction. (6%)
* Conduct a series of experiments to supply scientific information as part of a larger project. Plan, carry out, quantify, and analyze data from general molecular biology experiments, including design and implement cloning strategies, PCR analysis, mutagenesis, expression levels of cardiac proteins by various gel electrophoresis techniques and western blotting, gel purification, plasmid preparation, bacterial transformation, bacterial culture in order to express highly purified recombinant proteins for biophysical experiments. * Plan, carry out, quantify, collect, and analyze data from mechanical experiments in isolated cardiac and skeletal muscle preparations. (35%)

Position Summary

Assessment of clients' lake and/or pond with the ability to initiate the appropriate management protocol.
Water and sediment sampling.
Aquatic plant management and identification.

Qualifications
Associate's Degree or higher in Biology, Water Resources, Fisheries related course study, or equivalent work experience.
Must be well organized, highly motivated, and willing to work well with a team of professionals.
Possess a current driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to drive combination truck/trailer non-CDL capacity and operate motor vehicles for periods of time.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under moderate supervision, perform research work in a neuroscience lab studying molecular mechanisms of synapse formation. The Research Assistant 1 will perform immuno-fluorescence-based histological experiments, collect images, quantify the results with Arivis software, and perform general lab maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Conduct analysis of samples by quantifying imaging data obtained from immunofluorescence-based histological experiments. Using Arivis software, the individual evaluates fluorescence intensity and other relevant parameters to ensure accurate interpretation of experimental results. * Perform research work in medical and related technical areas involving the use of lab/research skills, this includes executing immunofluorescence-based histological experiments, utilizing standard molecular biology, microscopy, and histology techniques to collect and analyze data.
