We are seeking a SeniorManager, Applied Science to lead the applied science charter for Amazon's Last-Hundred-Yard automation initiative, developing the algorithms, models, and learning systems that enable safe, reliable, and scalable autonomous delivery from vehicle to customer doorstep. Key job responsibilities

Establish principled approaches for generalization across environments, including weather, terrain, lighting, customer properties, and interaction scenarios.
Drive alignment between real-world operations and simulation, ensuring tight feedback loops for data collection and model validation.
Influence safety strategy and validation by defining scientific evidence required for autonomy readiness and scale.
Represent applied science in executive reviews, articulating trade-offs, risks, and long-term innovation paths.
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale experience
Master's degree in Computer Science (Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent)
Experience building large-scale machine learning and AI solutions at Internet scale
Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives

In this role, the Technical Program Manager will support the research team that is working on the future of input and interaction for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). This role will focus on managing cross-functional software programs through the planning and execution phases while working with researchers and engineers. Other aspects of the job will include communicating with stakeholders, coordinating resources and timelines, and interfacing with partner teams in research.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Work with internal research/engineering teams to define roadmaps/milestones,
track statuses of multiple projects, lead regular check-ins (weekly, monthly,
quarterly, etc.), identify and escalate dependencies and risks, seek and reduce
inefficiencies
● Develop, maintain, and hold teams accountable to schedules while accounting
for technical challenges and available resources
● Coordinate cross-functional interactions/dependencies and align disconnected
teams
● Communicate program progress to cross-functional stakeholders through internal
posts and meetings
● Organize and maintain information and task management systems
● Develop new lightweight processes as needed and improve existing processes
based on feedback/retrospectives, keeping teams moving fast while minimizing
unnecessary overhead
● Work with researchers to coordinate human subjects research experiments,
including lab setup and data collection and analysis operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● 4+ years of experience as a technical program manager, working with engineers
or researchers and driving project progress and schedules
● Experience in software development, firmware, system engineering or
human-computer interaction
● Excellent computer skills and proficient with spreadsheets (G Suite, Excel)
● Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, proactiveness, and
resourcefulness
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent
activities with ambiguity and to work successfully under pressure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience in program management, process definition/improvements, relevant
tools and methodologies (e.g. Agile)
● Experience with research, academic, and/or startup environments
● Experience working autonomously with team members from diverse backgrounds
(scientists, engineers, program managers, supply chain, finance contacts,

This position reports to the IT Director, North America IT.
Job Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution:
Lead end-to-end project management for warehouse IT operations, from project initiation to final delivery.
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones to track progress and ensure successful project delivery.
Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Team Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, production, procurement, and external partners, to ensure smooth project execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues
Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams, translating technical jargon into business language when necessary.
Budget & Resource Management:
Manage project budgets, ensuring all expenses are within allocated funds.
Allocate resources efficiently and ensure teams have the tools and support needed to meet project deadlines.
Identify and mitigate potential cost overruns or resource constraints.
Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Monitor and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle to minimize disruptions and delays.
Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen project challenges.
Technology Implementation and Support:
Work with engineer teams to implement studio-specific technology solutions, such as software systems for production, asset management, and workflow automation.
Ensure that all technology solutions meet studio needs and industry standards.
Oversee the testing and deployment of new tools, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
Process Improvement:
Evaluate current studio workflows and processes, identifying areas for improvement.
Collaborate with operational and technical teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency using technological solutions.
Implement best practices for project management and technology adoption.
Reporting and Documentation:
Provide regular project status reports to seniormanagement, highlighting key achievements, risks, and recommendations.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-project reviews.
Warehouse IT Management & Optimization:
Manage and optimize warehouse IT systems, including automations, and robotics, ensuring efficient operations, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Apply advanced knowledge of warehouse IT operations and industry best practices, including system validation, qualification, and standards, to drive operational excellence.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in data analysis, business operations, strategy, consulting, or related analytical roles.
Ability to travel 30% of the time.
Extensive program/project management experience, including establishing, scaling, and managing operations, along with resource and budget planning.
Proven ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across diverse teams with potentially conflicting priorities.
High emotional intelligence (EQ) and a collaborative team player capable of managing expectations across time zones and cultures.
Lead and perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing shifting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and providing clear guidance to team members while maintaining high performance under pressure to ensure project success and continuity.
Proven leadership and team-building abilities, with extensive experience managing cross-functional teams.
Proven track record in delivering projects with a deep understanding of customer needs, technology, quality, speed to market, and budget.
Extensive experience with Agile methodologies, from roadmap planning to execution.

What You Will Be Doing
You will be the Technical Project Manager for projects on the Nuclear Science team, including HERCULES - the Helion External Research Collaboration for Universities, Labs, and Enterprise Scientists. Through HERCULES, Helion will fund impactful research at universities, national labs, and research companies, totaling over $20M over three years in a phased approach. As administrator for this program, you will review proposals, work with Helion's business teams and the awardee to go from proposal to funded project, then guide the technical work in partnership with internal PIs through the lifecycle of the project. Your superpower will be technical breadth, ensuring scientific alignment with Helion's objectives. This is an onsite role that reports directly to Director of Nuclear Science at our Everett, WA office.
You Will
* Lead the HERCULES program, totaling over $20M over three years
* Work on the cutting edge of research, contributing to the breadth of Helion's science and R&D spanning nuclear, materials, fuel, and pulsed power science. You will partner with internal PIs across all of Helion's technical teams
* Evaluate proposal submissions, quickly navigate contracts, disperse funds to research partners, guide technical work, and ensure on-track deliverables
* Communicate externally to potential partners to advertise the program, and internally to leaders and executives on progress and impact. You will be the bridge between Helion leadership, PIs, and business units, and those of our partners
* Teach our partners how to move fast and accelerate. You will find their largest blockers - supply chain, legal, and technical and solve them
* Jump in and ensure the delivery of internal Nuclear Science projects in parallel to external projects
Required Skills
* Research Experience: you have a PhD in science or engineering, or equivalent experience delivering impactful research through the scientific lifecycle in an academic or national lab setting
* Technical breadth: as the leader of this program, you have the technical skillset to understand projects spanning nuclear science, materials science, chemical engineering, experimental and computational plasma physics, and electrical engineering (pulsed power). This will be demonstrated by the delivery of multidisciplinary projects and/or publications spanning multiple discipline
* Communication: you can talk to scientists and business executives. You can condense information into short memos, understand key information from technical reports, and communicate business value to leaders and executives. For any project, you can always explain the "why" and how it connects to the organization's mission. This will be demonstrated via presentations at program review meetings and/or program review reports
* Project Management: you have experience managing multi-year budgets totaling over $1M, regularly reporting progress to stakeholders, driving schedule, and accelerating projects. You have managed multiple projects, keeping an eye on both the big picture and the details
* Proven delivery: you have brought a product from technological readiness level (TRL) 3 to TRL 6 on an accelerated timeline

Annual Base Pay
$175,000-$220,000 USD
