Additionally, collaborate with students' general education teacher(s) and collaborate with students' service providers to support students' Individualized Education Plan (IEP); modify curriculum. Education, Qualifications and Expectations Degree in Special Education and State of Connecticut Special Education certification (165); Working knowledge of the co-teaching and consultative models; Collaboration with classroom teachers in a co-teaching and/or consultative role - including lesson development, delivery of differentiated instruction, and analysis of student performance data; Ability to provide direct academic instruction in a resource room model through specialized instruction; Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Analysis and writing behavioral support plans, analyzing behavioral data; Ability to initiate productive communication to address student concerns with administration, team members, and parents; Develop a daily/weekly schedule of instructional and non-instructional activities for each paraprofessional that supports students on your caseload always with the intent to build students' independence; Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning and Placement Team process and legal and related compliance; Become Handle with Care Trained (training provided by District in fall); Conduct appropriate evaluations and assist other teams in understanding the special education eligibility process for students with or suspected of having a disability, including the use of state guidelines; Demonstrate teacher-leadership qualities to bring initiative and innovation to the special education department in the above areas; Handle with Care (or the District will provide training).
