Job Summary The Cyber Range Student Assistant is a vital team member responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the university's Cyber Range. Candidates must have the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support scheduled events (e.g., info sessions, competitions), which are communicated well in advance. Responsibilities Cyber Range Facility Upkeep * Description: Ensure the Cyber Range remains a clean, professional, and organized workspace. This includes managing cables, cleaning equipment, and organizing the physical space to maintain an environment conducive to learning. You will be responsible for checking the calendar for potential availability, gathering all necessary details from the requestor, and then presenting the request to the Administrator for final approval. Once approved, you will assist in communicating the confirmation back to the requestor. Nexus Info Session Setup * Description: Assist the Administrator in preparing for information sessions. Responsibilities include setting up the presentation room, testing audio and visual equipment (microphones, projectors, cameras), and ensuring virtual meeting links (Zoom/Teams) are functional. Mock Interview Event Support * Description: Act as essential event support for large-scale mock interview days. Your primary role is to ensure the event runs smoothly by guiding visiting students and industry professionals to the correct locations, answering questions, and managing the flow of people. You will also assist with the setup and takedown of the event space. Promotional Material Creation & Distribution * Description: Create basic promotional materials, such as flyers and digital signs, using university-approved templates (e.g., in Canva, Adobe Express). You will also be responsible for the physical distribution of these materials, which includes hanging flyers and signs in designated high-traffic areas across campus to promote upcoming events and opportunities in the Cyber Range. Website & SharePoint Updates * Description: Perform routine content updates to the Cyber Range website and SharePoint sites as directed, ensuring event calendars, news, and resources are accurate. Documentation Assistance * Description: Assist the Administrator in writing and updating operational documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, and inventories, to ensure all documentation is clear and current. Technical Assistance for Systems and Networks * Description: Under the close supervision of the Administrator, provide technical support by assisting with OS installation and configuration, helping to document network layouts and assets, and performing basic hardware troubleshooting. Peer Training and Mentorship * Description: As you gain experience, you may have the opportunity to prepare and lead technical training sessions for your peers, such as introductory Capture the Flag (CTF) workshops. This is a key growth opportunity to develop leadership and teaching skills under the guidance of the Administrator. Proposed Salary This position is an hourly position paying $15 per hour. This position works up to 19 hours per week but could be less dependent on office needs.
