Classroom teachers and classroom assistants are expected to interact with each other in a professional manner and resolve any concerns before seeking administrative input. The classroom teacher is the teacher of record and, therefore, the assessment and recording of student progress must be handled by the classroom teacher. Informal assessments and benchmark assessments in which classroom assistants are trained are the exceptions.
