Descent Systems Engineer: In Orbit is looking for a Descent Systems Engineer eager to join a diverse and dynamic team developing solutions for cargo delivery where traditional aircraft and drones fail. As a Descent Systems Engineer at In Orbit you will work on the design, development, and testing of advanced parachutes and decelerator systems. You will work with other engineers on integrating decelerator subsystems into the vehicle. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience manufacturing and testing parachute systems, a solid foundation of aerodynamic and mechanical design principles as well as flight testing experience. Responsibilities: Lead the development of parafoils, reefing systems, and other decelerator components. Develop fabrication and manufacturing processes including material selection, patterning, sewing, rigging, and hardware integration. Plan and conduct flight tests including drop tests, high-altitude balloon tests, and other captive-carry deployments. Support the development of test plans, procedures, and instrumentation requirements to verify system performance. Collaborate closely with mechanical, avionics, and software teams for vehicle-level integrations Own documentation and configuration management for parachute assemblies, manufacturing specifications, and test reports. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree level of education in Aerospace Engineering or similar curriculum.
