Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: * High school diploma or GED * Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning* * Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Ability to work well with children * Ability to communicate effectively * Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics Experience: * Some experience with children CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the characteristic duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills, and abilities noted herein; however, this is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions found in this job description. Student Management: * Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. * Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Professional Effectiveness: * Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. * Maintain confidentiality. * Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. * Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. * Follow district policies and procedures pertaining to the job assignment.
