The informatics team utilizes informatics principles and techniques to architect, mine, analyze, and visualize clinical trial data to inform study design choices for pharmaceutical development. This internship will provide intensive informatics experience in query-based programming, data interpretation, and visualization creation.
The Informatics team is a highly collaborative team with members in both the Cincinnati and London offices, which provides interns the opportunity to work directly with international employees. The informatics' internship / co-op program was launched Spring 2021 and has a formal 2-week intensive onboarding process followed by a mentored path to independence for students. Daily activities include whiteboarding sessions, group-think meetings with the London team, independent data exploration, and programming for custom data queries and structures. Students have weekly meetings with their supervisor, whom they interact with daily. They also receive the support of analysts on the team for various projects, as needed. This team emphasizes an open learning environment for students and employees to learn from each other and accomplish innovative projects. Students will become proficient-to-advanced in R and introductory-to-proficient in SQL during this experience. Students will also have the opportunity to work with software and systems including: PowerBI, Excel, Snowflake, and Shiny.

The Technician will support coating process development and industrialization efforts, coating equipment operation and maintenance, and data documentation and reporting.

Job Duties:
Students may be involved in one or many of the following:
* Receives and installs PC hardware and peripheral components such as monitors,
keyboards, printers, and disk drives, etc.
* Loads specified PC software packages, such as operating systems, word processing and
spreadsheet applications, etc. in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Performs advanced troubleshooting in person and via telephone concerning PC operation;
diagnoses system hardware, software and computer problems based on knowledge of
system operations; installs, troubleshoots and coordinates repairs of barcode readers.
* Dismantles hardware hook-ups, moves hardware to new locations and reconnects hardware
to newly installed cabling.
* Responsible for the daily operation and function of local/wide area network operations such
as setting up new users, installation of hardware, diagnosing and resolving hardware and
software problems, ensuring proper file server operation and file backup.
* Maintains a personal computer inventory database and telephone equipment database to
ensure all personal computer and telephone resources are accounted for; maintains a
software library of all SBU-owned personal computer-based software, ensuring compliance
with all software licenses and copyright laws.
* Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any
unsafe practices/conditions.
* Carries out special projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
* Exposure to entry-level IT issues
* Knowledge of currently employed operating systems.
* Familiar with basic electronics.
* Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
* Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.
* Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, crouch, crawl and/or climb for prolonged
periods.

* Excellent communication skills
* A strong desire to learn and be a contributing member of a team
* Strong self-motivation and organization skills
