The Melt Bay Technical Specialist is responsible for leading and optimizing the melt bay operations within the cast house, with a strategic focus on the efficient use of aluminum scrap metal. This role drives profitability by improving scrap utilization, reducing inventory levels, and implementing best practices across melt operations. This role will oversee, coach, and train hourly employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality casting processes. Basic Qualifications: GED or equivalent from an accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of experience in aluminum casting or melt operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong understanding of aluminum scrap types, melt practices, and casting processes. Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach teams. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Operational Leadership: Supervise daily melt bay operations, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance melt efficiency and reduce waste. Conduct Kaizen events with all departments to develop a strategic scrap recover loop. Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for scrap handling and melt processes. Team Development: Coach, train, and mentor hourly cast house employees to build technical skills and operational knowledge. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety. Conduct performance evaluations and support career development for team members. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize production data and KPIs to drive decisions and track progress toward operational goals.
