Position Summary
The Building Services & Conference Operations Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the operational needs of Shanty Creek Resorts. This position is responsible for shipping and receiving functions, building maintenance support, and all aspects of conference and event setup, including audio/visual (AV) equipment. The role ensures facilities, events, and service operations run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with guest expectations and resort standards.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesConference & Event Setup
Read and implement Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and attend all relevant setup meetings.
Set up and tear down meeting rooms according to specifications, including tables, chairs, staging, and AV needs.
Train back-up support staff in event setup procedures and safety standards.
Serve as a point of contact during events for setup adjustments and AV troubleshooting.
Audio/Visual Equipment Management
Maintain and operate all audio/visual equipment required for meetings and events.
Train back-up support staff on proper use and storage of AV equipment.
Coordinate repairs or purchase of new AV equipment as needed.
Ensure timely setup, testing, and removal of AV equipment for events.
Building Services Support
Assist with general facility maintenance tasks including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and basic repairs.
Conduct walkthroughs of public spaces to identify and address maintenance needs.
Manage waste disposal logistics and ensure compactor functionality.
Administrative & Support Duties
Coordinate service requests and maintenance schedules in collaboration with Building Maintenance leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Manager of Building Maintenance.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Experience with AV systems and event setup preferred.
Ability to lead and train small teams.
Basic mechanical and facility maintenance knowledge.

In this role, you will provide live sound reinforcement, lighting, and video needs for classical, jazz, rock, singer-songwriter, theatrical, and dance productions using the latest technologies while fully immersing yourself in the unique environment only a summer camp offers.
What You Get To Do
Learn about all live production areas, such as live sound, lighting, and video webcasts.
Use conventional, LED, and moving fixture lighting units to provide lighting for student productions, professional touring acts, and other concerts at Interlochen.
Provide live sound reinforcement for jazz, rock and roll, orchestral and choral music, and dance.
Provide video webcasting of student performances and professional guest artists' performances utilizing robotic cameras and Tricaster switchers.
Assist as local crew for the annual Summer Arts Festival. Past guest artists include Train, Jason Mraz, Jason Isbell, Jewel, Melissa Ethridge, Nickel Creek, and Brandi Carlile.
Provide any production needs for Interlochen Presents and Interlochen Arts Camp.

**Job Duties**
+ Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair Crown and all other makes of lift trucks.
+ Perform all assigned planned maintenance on customer lift trucks.
+ Maintain a service van and its inventory.
+ Process paperwork after completion of each job.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Less than 2 years related experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to safely operate lift trucks.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics and internal combustion engines, and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
+ Good written/verbal communication and customer care skills.
+ Technical degree, previous lift truck repair, welding experience, and knowledge of various types of testing equipment preferred.
+ Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder and various types of testing equipment.
+ Industry related training is preferred
