In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring Lunch Assistants who help ensure safe & effective cafeteria and recess operations. Lunch Assistants build relationships with students during meal times and recess, carry out school lunch procedures, and support school staff members with lunch operations as needed. They are a crucial component of a school team. Cafeteria only assistants (which would be indicated in the title) will not support recess and will just support the cafeteria. Preferred Qualifications

Plant Utilities Assistants perform semiskilled tasks in the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment providing heat, hot water, ventilation, air-conditioning, and electrical distribution under direction of Plant Utilities Engineers in various State agencies.
Illustrative Tasks
May perform all of the same duties and functions as a Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Utilities).
* Monitors equipment consoles.
* Reads, analyzes, and follows up on all console readings, charts, and trouble calls.
* Adjusts equipment controls to correct malfunction when indicated by observation or in response to a signal.
* Reads and records gas, steam, water, and electrical meter readings.
* Fills out plant logs, incident and Quality Assurance Reports.
* Advises supervisor when repairs are required.
* Receives and distributes fuel supplies required for all program locations.
Performs preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and in accordance with defined policies and procedures for the unit, the Surgical Service Aid (SSA) Pre-Post/PACU provides technical patient care to a defined patient population as assigned by the Registered Nurse. Duties may include the performance of basic technical skills not requiring licensure, such as, but not limited to:
* Cleaning the Pre-Post & PACU areas and patient rooms to EVS standards.
Includes cleaning bathrooms, and common areas. Spot clean floors as needed.
* Gathering equipment, stocking patient care areas, changing needle boxes, hand and soap sanitizers, restocking cleaning supplies.
* Help with positioning and transfer of patients with assistance of the RN
* Transport outpatients via wheelchair to the patient pick up area and assist to get in the vehicle as needed.
* Assist RN to transport inpatients to their room via bed or stretcher.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time. Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
* Skill and proficiency in oral and written grammar, communication and basic mathematics

Service Environment: This position operates in a K-12 school environment in Lansing, Michigan
, both indoors and outdoors. The position interacts with children on playgrounds and in classrooms on a daily basis.
Typical physical and mental demands:
This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand for extended periods at times; walk on a school site in various weather conditions; to climb stairs at some sites; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist and, dependent on assignment, the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Requires a range of hearing, vision, and speech that enables the member to exchange information, to hear and locate the source of a sound in a noisy environment and to see effectively to monitor student activities

Members serve in MSU Extension offices across Michigan, bringing programs to local communities. While serving, members build job skills, learn from real-world experiences, and grow their professional networks. They work closely with families and community leaders, making a real difference in the lives of youth and helping improve overall community health. Members also learn about public health, gain leadership experience, and explore careers in education, health, and community service. Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will teach youth ages 5-18 about mental and emotional health, substance use prevention, and healthy habits through fun, hands-on activities. They'll lead 6-8 week long afterschool clubs based on youth interests, using approved curriculum. Members will also teach lessons in the classroom and may help build new school partnerships. They'll recruit youth to join afterschool clubs, plan and lead sessions, and may have the opportunity to support family events that promote wellness. Members will track attendance of youth attending lessons, collect surveys, and write monthly reports. They'll attend bi-weekly trainings with their cohort and join other MSU Extension and AmeriCorps events. Members may earn certifications in mental health topics and receive one-on-one career coaching. This role builds leadership, public speaking, and youth development skills while helping kids grow stronger and healthier in Michigan communities.
