S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Volunteer Coordinator directly supervises volunteers. S/he is responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, and retaining volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing volunteer workload; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining volunteers; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Volunteer Coordinator adequately supports volunteer operations and to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. S/he will ensure the coordination of patient and family needs for volunteer services and will oversee the development and implementation of the plan of care to meet those needs.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT), including the development and implementation of the plan of care.
Promotes the use of volunteers as an intervention to support patient care needs.
Actively recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and retains volunteers to support the administrative and patient care needs of the program and Compassus.
Adheres to common human resource policies in recruitment and selection processes.
Ensures prospective volunteers are interviewed and complete all mandated background and health screenings prior to being offered a position as a volunteer.
Performs initial and ongoing competency evaluations to verify training and support needs.
Maintains records of all recruitment and retention activities.
Maintains accurate record of volunteer utilization as a percentage of overall patient care hours as mandated by regulations.
Effectively communicates patient and family needs to IDT.
Provides education about volunteer services and role of the volunteer to members of the IDT.
Prepares reports, in-services, and other documents to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of the volunteer program as requested.
Utilizes a variety of means to communicate with and retain active volunteers, which may include: newsletters; email campaigns; gatherings/celebratory events; meetings.
Delivers high quality training for new volunteers.
Delivers at least 4 in-services per year for active volunteers.
Manages volunteer services through accountable awareness of volunteer utilization, documentation and plan of care involvement.
Assigns patient care and administrative volunteers, providing oversight for activity and documentation requirements.
Develops and performs public service announcements regarding hospice volunteerism.
Performs the role of the patient care volunteer when needed to support plan of care interventions.
Operates within established budgetary guidelines and manages expenses of volunteer program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Colleague degree (AS or BS) preferred.
Experience in Social Services, Human Services, Resource Management or related field is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
Prior experience managing volunteer services or non-profit organization is a plus.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Job Summary
Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Sanitation Assistant. The Sanitation Assistant will be responsible for all housekeeping duties of the Low Barrier Shelter. The assistant will perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties. The assistant will oversee maintaining program sites/facilities to OHL's standards. Duties will include cleaning and keeping the grounds neat.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the duty and responsibility of the Sanitation Assistant to:
· keep buildings in clean and orderly condition;
· perform duties, such as cleaning floors, showers walls and drains, living quarters, washing walls, windows, and handrails, removing debris and trash;
· carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies;
· disinfect equipment and supplies, ensuring safe and sanitary storage and care of products;
· polish furniture and room accessories as needed;
· clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors;
· monitor chemicals by tracking chemicals with sign in/out sheet;
· maintaining daily log of duties perform and time;
· clean rooms, hallways, dining rooms and group rooms, restrooms, corridors, stairways, dorm rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met;
· empty wastebaskets, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas;
· transport of supplies (will be reimbursed for travel);
· empty all trash, clean dining rooms, and kitchens;
· coordinate with other staff and supervisor daily to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner;
· work with staff to discuss company policies for cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment;
· monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created;
· deep clean all facilities every two weeks;
· clean bathroom floors twice a week; and
· report repairs and replacements needed when encountered on job;
· light maintenance work;
· perform other duties as assigned.

Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service that included experience such as:

Education substitution:
You must have successfully completed four years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

Combination of Education and Experience:
You must have an appropriate combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet the total qualification requirements for the GS-05 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. All Volunteers: Submit documentation of all contacts with patients/families, or of any volunteer activity, in a timely manner to the Volunteer Coordinator; Participate in the in-service programs to keep informed about current information pertinent to the volunteer.
Education and/or Experience
Professional, Certified and/or Complementary Therapies Volunteers: Must provide a current license, certification, or proof of training and experience; Minimum of one year of experience; Ability to maintain infection control requirements; Must be at least 18 years of age.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Ability to support dying patients and their families utilizing skills learned in volunteer orientation. Maintain confidentiality of patient/family interactions and information. Ability to follow through on patient care assignments in a reliable and dependable manner.
