This question is about teacher salaries.
Most teachers are paid bi-weekly and on a ten-month schedule during the school year. This means that they will be paid for only ten months, and the eight weeks where they do not teach students over the summer will be unpaid.
Because of this, many districts and schools will have an option for teachers to distribute their ten-month salary over 12 months. What this means is that each of the bi-weekly payments will be lower, but there will not be those eight weeks where there is no payment given.
There are some schools that do have year-round schooling, and in these instances, teachers will continue to be paid bi-weekly throughout the entire year, as they are working the entire time and do not have that summer break.
