What are the qualifications of a restaurant manager?

By Zippia Team - Nov. 16, 2022

The qualifications of a restaurant manager are previous restaurant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and an ability to lead. For some highly exclusive restaurants, a bachelor's degree in hospitality is required, but this is not true for the vast majority of positions.

The most important thing that qualifies you for becoming a restaurant manager is previous experience. You must have worked in a restaurant beforehand. Training in food safety is required, but past experience means you already have that. Excellent communication skills are necessary as well, both with working with customers and other restaurant workers.
