What is the hiring process at Intel?

By Zippia Team - Apr. 20, 2022

The hiring process at Intel is multifaceted and arduous. If you're applying for a technical position, you can expect six or seven rounds of interviews. The hiring process can take anywhere from one to three months.

For an Intel technical position, the hiring process includes an online assessment, several technical tests, and an interview with HR.

The online phase consists of a general aptitude test and a verbal ability test. Be ready to use your mathematical reasoning and logic skills, as well as your verbal ability.

Candidates who pass the written round are called in for several rounds of technical interviews. These touch on your understanding of data structures, algorithms, DBMS, operating systems, networking, OOPs concepts, and the C language.

Anticipate mock coding sessions, puzzles, riddles, and behavioral questions. For example, they may ask you to write an algorithm that calculates the angle between the minute and hour hand of a wall clock.

Common interview questions for a non-technical role at Intel:

  • Have you ever been in a scenario where a client complained about your work? If yes, what is the cause and how were you able to resolve it?

  • Have you ever worked in an unsafe environment? How did you cope with that?

  • Have you ever had a sharp disagreement with a superior in the past? How did you resolve it?

  • Has there been a time when you had a deadline to meet? How did you organize the projects to meet up with the deadline?

  • What do you know about Intel?

Common interview questions for a technical role at Intel:

  • What are the steps you can take to troubleshoot a problem on a computer?

  • Cite an example of a situation where you had to take some preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of a problem.

  • How would you explain or present your research to someone that doesn't work at Intel?

  • Has there been a time you were part of a team that failed in a project? How did you feel and how did you recover from the failure?

If you make it to the HR rounds you should congratulate yourself. That was no easy feat. You have all of the right qualifications and Intel is seriously considering you as a candidate. Now they want to get to know you a little better.

Example of questions asked during Intel's HR round of interviews:

  • Tell me about yourself

  • Why Intel?

  • Where do you see yourself five years from now?

  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?

  • Tell me about your recent project and where you have failed and how you learned from that experience.
