This question is about what a scientist does.

Where do scientists work?

By Zippia Team - Sep. 7, 2022

Scientists work in universities, government agencies, and company laboratories. They also work at for-profit companies, non-profits, and hospitals. Since science is such a broad and all-encompassing subject, it is no surprise that scientists can be found almost anywhere in the professional landscape.

Scientists' work can be confined to labs, but many also work out in the field. A marine biologist, for example, will work on bodies of water, and a biologist can work in a rainforest or a desert.

When working for private companies scientists may collaborate with or take direction from corporate officials, but in general, in almost all working environments, scientists work amongst other scientists and research professionals.

Some scientists at universities are also professors and, in this case, interact with students and teach them about their specialized field of science.
