In addition, he oversaw and coordinated enterprise information security efforts, policy compliance, and incident management & response. Tom earned a Master of Information Technology with a focus in Information Security and Assurance from Carnegie Mellon University, a Master of Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Tom is an Adjunct Instructor for Carnegie Mellon University’s CISO Executive Education program.

Cassie Lentchner is the Chief Operating Officer for the BitGo Trust companies and is responsible for managing the trust company operations to meet high standards of customer care and safe and sound custody of their assets. Prior to joining BitGo, Cassie has over 20 years experience in the financial service industry working as a regulator, in-house at significant global financial institutions as well as serving as counsel for industry participants. Cassie has served in both federal and state roles, most recently as the Deputy Superintendent for Compliance for the NYS Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). At NYDFS Cassie oversaw compliance standards for a broad range of NY licensed financial services companies licensing and supervising bitlicensees and digital asset custodians. Prior to NY DFS, Cassie worked in the legal and compliance departments of Morgan Stanley and UBS where she led global programs building and administering controls to address the evolving needs of dynamic and complex financial services products and services. Cassie has also served as a chair of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association committee and regularly participates in industry efforts to promote a robust and efficient financial services regulatory landscape. Cassie holds both a B.A in History and Political Science and J.D. from Rutgers University.

Previously, Frieder was a Principal at Promontory Financial Group, where he advised clients across a wide variety of industry sectors on matters relating to privacy, information security and enterprise risk management matters. Before relocating to the United States, Frieder served in the German Air Force.

Frieder earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Washington School of Law and his Bachelor’s degree in Law, Societies & Justice from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional, Europe and United States (CIPP/E and CIPP/US), and has completed the Chief Risk Officer Certificate Program at Carnegie Mellon University.

Jeff joined Coinbase after spending close to 12 years at Pershing LLC, a BNY Mellon Company, one of the largest providers of brokerage custody, clearing and settlement solutions in the world. For the last three years at Pershing, Jeff served as Pershing’s managing director and global head of compliance, overseeing its regulatory and compliance programs. Prior to this role, Jeff was the firm’s chief compliance officer and global head of anti-money laundering (AML) and compliance programs.

Before joining Pershing, Jeff led various compliance and AML programs at Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and Salomon Brothers. He previously served as a banking regulator with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), along with twice serving as a member of FinCEN’s Bank Secrecy Act Advisory Group (BSAAG). These include the Security Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Compliance and Regulatory Policy Committee, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) Compliance and Advisory Committee. His experience managing matters related to broker-dealer regulation, asset custodianship, and AML programs makes him a uniquely qualified leader for our compliance team.
