Responsibilities
* Performs a variety of scheduling and dispatch tasks.
* Routinely assists with setting schedules, monitoring passenger flows, assigning drivers, and coordinating arrangements with other departments.
* Answers calls from employees and management to respond to scheduling queries.
Requirements
* Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized scheduling systems.
* Three years of experience in positions involving motorcoach driver preferred.
* Must pass a pre-employment background check.
* Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This is a full-time union represented position typically working a combination of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts for 40+ hours per week. Shifts regularly include work during the evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays. Employees receive extra pay differential when working swing shift (4.5%) and night shift (6.5%). Overtime is paid, and extra leave is granted when working holidays. Work assignments and personal leave are bid and scheduled based on seniority.
The Communications Center is located at the Juneau police station on Alaway Avenue in the Lemon Creek area and has plenty of free, convenient parking available in a secure parking lot.
You will be answering phones, 9-1-1 lines, managing radio channels, providing customer service, solving problems, sharing information with the public, and tracking all of this activity in a computer-aided dispatch system. Duties quickly fluctuate between performing data entry, talking to callers during their times of need, and making critically important decisions in support of the community, Juneau Police Department, and Capital City Fire/Rescue responders. Most calls for service involve either police, community service, fire, EMS, the Mobile Crisis Team or Sobering Center responders, with some calls getting all of the above.
It is important to be able to work with considerable independence, use good judgment, and take actions based on policy while taking into account different situations and conditions on the fly. Tasks are constantly prioritized, re-evaluated, and re-prioritized. There are times of very heavy workload, and there are also periods of down time when administrative tasks are performed.
Education: High school graduation or the equivalent.
Experience: The required experience listed below may be gained concurrently and must have been obtained within the last ten (10) years.
Twenty-four (24) months of general administrative, communications or technical work experience requiring gathering, analysis, categorization and documentation of information; and
Twelve (12) months of experience using computer systems to input, research, maintain and retrieve information; and
Twelve (12) months of customer service, call center, collections, legal office or reception work explaining services, program requirements, procedures, summaries of actions and eliciting information.
Other: At least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
SPECIAL NOTES: Appointment to Public Safety Dispatcher positions will be made conditionally pending successful completion of all portions of the background process, psychological evaluation, and pending receipt of verified negative results of pre-employment testing for controlled substances (this includes: new hires, short term temp, long term temp, transfers from another CBJ department, or former JPD employees who have been separated from JPD employment for more than 30 days). When you step into the role as a Dispatcher One with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Emergency Communication Center (UAFECC), you will become part of a recognized team of professionals. We serve the University of Alaska Fairbanks with integrity, honor and commitment.
As a Dispatcher One you will learn from the bottom up, how to be an emergency dispatcher. Starting with basic call entry, our Computer Automated Dispatch (CAD) system will be your first stop. You will learn to type information into the call screen, update unit information and use the CAD to keep track of ongoing calls. As a Dispatcher One it will be your responsibility to ensure that correct and timely information is updated into the CAD for the responding units.
Everyday you will be tasked with handling a variety of systems, including alarm monitoring. From general alarms to fire and burglary, it will be part of your job duties to learn and understand the appropriate response type for each alarm and to dispatch accordingly. The alarms aren't the only system as a Dispatcher One you will be expected to monitor. At any given moment the Dispatch center you could receive emergency phone calls or you could be answering an after hours call from a student needing let into their dorm. Each of these calls carries their own level of service, as a Dispatcher One you will be tasked with organizing these calls and correctly handling their dispatch. A lot of the after hours calls on campus require you, as a Dispatcher One, to understands who on campus handles such issues. You will need to understand the different departments on campus and when to dispatch them.
To thrive in this role, it will be imperative that you complete required trainings on time and efficiently. As a Dispatcher One you will be issued a variety of trainings that will need to be completed within your first year of employment. These trainings range from basic call taking training to National Incident Management trainings through FEMA. As a member of UAFECC we believe that keeping ourselves up to date on changes in our fields through training is very important and we embrace a willingness to learn. Most of our trainings are self-paced, so it will be important for you as a Dispatcher One to be on top of your trainings as well as your daily work. Time management is an important skill to master as a Dispatcher One.
Minimum Qualifications:
This role requires that you are able to work in a rapid pace, ever changing and multitasking environment. As a Dispatcher One, while a lot of your skills will be developed throughout training, it will be important coming in that you employ a sense of service. While we have a varied number of tasks assigned to us throughout our work day, the foundation to everything we do is customer service. We serve the public. As a Dispatcher One, you will be expected to be calm, courteous and helpful with every caller and every visitor. You must be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm.

This position is located on the Troth Yedda' campus in Fairbanks. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. Under the supervision of the Public Safety Director, the Dispatcher provides the communication link between the public and emergency services responders (police, fire, emergency and related services). The Dispatcher is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance and information, monitoring communications, transmitting messages, and recording incident data. The Dispatcher also provides related administrative support to the Department.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or the equivalent One (1) year in a job requiring public contact. Prior work experience as a dispatcher or similar communications field preferred. Knowledge of multiple cultures and/or languages is preferred. Proficiency in the Yu'pik language is highly desired.
Special Requirements
This position is considered a public trust position. An applicant must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal records background check to be considered for this position. AN applicant must be able to obtain and maintain an Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) security clearance.

Job Description
Effectively manage the communication between transportation and all departments within CP Logistics and Charlie's Produce. Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all routes. Troubleshoot, as per DOT and Alaska regulations, coordinate the drivers through the finalization of their day, all dispatching, coordination and maintenance of DOT paperwork. Must have ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced environment and make quick decisions based on daily success of duties with the highest regard for customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispatching
Route Building and analysis
Route tracking and adjustments
Audit Driver logs and review driver pre-check lists
Communicating door assignments to shipping department door assignment for departing routes.
Check email, looking for pickup requests, sales requests for delivery times, add on to orders, and rush orders.
Direct and track pickup requests
Check routes, send ETA's for late routes, send routing emails to sales and customer service
Equipment size management based on truck capabilities, safety and regulations
Communicate with multiple departments throughout the day
Other duties as assigned.
Non-CDL driving as needed
Peripheral Duties:
Spreadsheet Maintenance
Driver training and support
DOT Policy implementation
Troubleshoot and problem solve when drivers call out or fleet issues arise
Assist in checking in of drivers at the end of their route
Assist in getting drivers on the road at the beginning of their shift
Qualifications
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
Intermediate knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations.
1-2 years of experience in transportation supervision or lead role.
Must be able to read write and speak English fluently
Intermediate word and excel skills for correspondence and reporting duties/pivot tables
Intermediate MS Outlook skills for regular communication with crew.
Advanced verbal communication skills. Must be able to assist a diverse work force and communicate clearly with various levels of management.
Occasionally lift 60 lbs.
