WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Dispatch Center Operators are responsible for a variety of tasks including dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls, logging downtime and department activity, computing park attendance information, answering park phone lines, issuing keys, radios, and badges, as well as other duties. The Operator must be able to answer multiple phone lines and monitor and dispatch information on all park radio channels.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Under the supervision of the Customer Solutions Center Manager the Interfacility/911 Dispatcher will be responsible for pre-dispatching vehicles for the next day. During this pre-assignment they will be responsible to ensure there are adequate resources to meet the call volume scheduled including a pre-determined overflow volume.
The dispatcher will receive phone calls from out of state 911, hospital nursing floors, outpatient satellites, and private residences with request for transportation. Dispatchers will assign called to ambulance units based on level of care (BLS&ALS) efficiently and accurately.
Dispatcher will at times need to re-arrange calls that are preassigned in case of vehicular breakdowns, traffic, and ASAP call requests. The dispatcher will be responsible for utilizing TraumaSoft to assign the trips to the vehicles based on the crew members scheduled and ensure that the vehicles have adequate time with the assigned calls to meet specified customers' needs and response standards.
The Dispatcher while pre-dispatching for the next day may will be in close consultation with management to call in staff earlier for their next day shift and or additional staff for more shifts to ensure they can pre-dispatch the transports to the vehicles without inhibiting customer service and or required response performance standards.

The Public Safety Dispatcher/ 911 Operator- Basic will have a wide range of responsibilities performed both independently and as part of a team. Primary duties include transmitting and receiving communications through the police radio system and managing a multi-line telephone system. The role also involves monitoring campus-wide fire and intrusion alarms and initiating appropriate response actions. Additional responsibilities include collecting and recording payments for fingerprinting services and bond transactions, addressing complaints and inquiries, and preparing detailed reports. The position requires proficient operation of various computer systems, including surveillance cameras, voice recording equipment, records management systems, and nationwide databases.

Essential Functions:
* Receives complaints and inquiries from members of the university community by telephone, email, or in person at the service window. After assessing the information provided, the dispatcher deploys police, fire, or emergency medical services as appropriate using the radio communication system.
* Maintains a computer-based log of all police activities. They document service calls and radio communications from officers in the CAD system and use the system to determine whether an officer has had prior interactions with a specific individual or vehicle. Additional responsibilities include submitting reports and updating reference manual.
* Responsible for managing multiple computer systems, including a CCTV network with more than 2,000 cameras, fire and security alarm monitoring systems, 911 services, and a police blotter.

The 15 position communications center processes 911 and non-emergency requests for Emergency Medical Services from our coverage area which spans multiple states. The center provides dispatch and support services to the fleet of Pafford EMS ground and air ambulances on a 24 hour basis, 365 days per year. Applicants must be professional, mature, team oriented, and customer service driven. Pafford EMS will provide all necessary training for entry level applicants. Work involves operation of multiple computer terminals, requiring doing several things at once, without getting confused or forgetting an important piece of information. Constant attention to the workstation and its communications equipment limits mobility, except for work breaks. Telecommunicators must conduct themselves with a high degree of professionalism despite frequent contact with individuals who are distraught, angry and sometimes disrespectful. The content and nature of many calls is traumatic and disturbing. Work is carried out in a secured 9-1-1 emergency call center in a controlled, closely supervised, and highly structured work environment.
