Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of clinical staff.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with managers, educators and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of clinical staff.
Designs, delivers and assesses learning activities and curriculum related to clinical competencies, departmental, organizational policies, regulatory requirements and the use of clinical information technologies.
Serves as a consultant. Mentor for clinical staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new clinical staff orientation and education activities.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program, Preferred: Associate Degree in Medical Assisting.
Required Licensure/Certification: Certified or registered as a Medical Assistant. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Minimum Experience: 3 years of recent experience practicing as medical assistant.
BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

Ensure each child's paper and electronic files are accurate, complete, and up to date. Attend case reviews as needed.
Participate with the center team in coordinating child transitions.
Ensure teachers complete the Health and Safety checklist daily.
Manage all classroom and education resource inventories.
Maintain an ongoing flow of information between teaching staff and support staff, to include facilitating teacher meetings and attending center and agency meetings as required.
Ensure home visits and parent/teacher conferences occur as per Head Start performance standards.
Submit an education report monthly or as directed.

Provides clinical professional development and education services to Enterprise wide staff. Prepares employees for clinical practice and supports employees in acquiring the knowledge and skills to perform superior patient care. Creates and delivers training material to all staff members in a variety of formats including one-on-one and group settings.

Ensures an experiential-blended learning model that is scalable to meet the needs of the Enterpirse's mobile workforce.
Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
Utilizes feedback from learners and subject matter experts to continuously improve curriculum.
Coordinates and conducts ongoing education programs; delivers education to small and large groups.
Creates and develops simulation labs that will professionally develop and educate clinical staff and empower them with the ability to enhance the patient and family experience to the highest level.
Mentors/trains clinical nurses ensuring they have complete knowledge of their clinical practice/responsibilities as well as electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation.
Incorporates documentation standards in all learning strategies.
Conducts comprehensive evaluations of education activities.
Serves as a reference and resource for clinical questions and procedures to all clinical staff.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU:
Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred or Registered Nurse with equivalent years of experience. CHPN certification preferred.
Minimum Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience strongly preferred. Experience in hospice, palliative care and/or home health nursing preferred. Two (2) years in an education role (i.e., mentor/preceptor, clinical education) preferred.
Required License: Current Colorado RN license. Current CPR certification. Valid Colorado state driver's license and proof of auto insurance.

Ability to lift/push/pull minimum of 30 lbs.

Responsible for evaluating clinical compliance and quality including all aspects of clinical operations. Oversee and coordinate local orientation and participate in the development and oversight of all recurrent continuing education training for clinical crew members within assigned area to achieve and maintain required competencies. Develop and assist with scenario and clinical content for new hires and recurrent clinical teammates. Assists in mentoring clinicians that are placed on clinical education plans. Coordinate activities to achieve and maintain accreditation. Participates in air medical research. Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Lead and assist the RCEM with new employee orientation to include oversight of schedules and base assignments. Provide leadership to orientees and preceptors and serve as a role model through the orientation process. This includes development of area-specific orientation of local protocol and procedures for new employees.
Work collaboratively with RCEM and RCD to assist in the oversight of new employees' clinical preceptorship.
Collaborate with area RCEM and RCD in maintaining mutual resources for education available to all flight crews within the region to assist with maintaining and improving clinical quality.
Actively assist and teach in simulation labs, invasive labs and other programs with learning technologies to evaluate and enhance new hire and recurrent clinical teammates.
Lead content development and continuing education requirements to maintain compliance and quality with all accrediting, regulating and credentialing agencies.
Support the implementation of management decisions that affect air medical practice in the clinical area. Plan educational programming for new and changing programs of care. Assist in development of policies and procedures as requested to assist and maintaining clinical quality.
Develop simulation and other various learning technology scenarios for clinical competency and learning stage(s) improvement.
Evaluate performance of clinical teammates during educational programs and utilize findings for continued improvement. Incorporate objective assessment of classroom and clinical performance into evidence-based evaluation framework. Apply measurement instruments and statistical analysis, seeking consultation when needed.
Assist RCEM, RCD and Director of Clinical Education in assessing educational requirements (didactic, clinical, certifications, specialty equipment and training) throughout the region and for established programs acquired by Air Methods.
Lead the annual competency training, protocol testing, and initial training for new medical equipment and/or procedures.
Assist in developing and revision medical standards and guidelines in collaboration with RCEM, Director of Clinical Education, RCD, and Medical Director(s).
Assist with maintaining accreditation and successful reaccreditation.
Assist the RCEM with developing region-specific guidance for the Training Blueprint.
Accept committee and workgroup appointments and actively participate to affect change in patient care.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities:

Develop weekly instructional plans guided by results of ongoing assessment.
Implement family and community partnership services for families enrolled in Clayton Early Learning programs.
Provide case management services and support families in moving toward self-sufficiency.
Facilitate the identification and codifying of personal and family goals.
Complete and monitor the family partnership agreements.
Assist parents in identifying and working with public/private agencies
Provide crisis intervention to families including, but not limited to, child abuse, domestic violence and emergency food and housing needs.
Meet weekly with supervisor to plan and evaluate home visits. Consult with appropriate staff as needed to better serve individual families.
Collaborate with health service staff to ensure and monitor compliance with child health requirements. Guide families in the acquisition and use of medical and dental services.
Complete all forms and monitoring tools in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule and Clayton Early Learning policies.
Demonstrate responsible professional behavior by participating effectively within and across teams.
Actively participate in training programs, workshops, and meetings concerning teaching methods, approaches, and other topics relating to the early childhood development component.

Education:
BA in Early Childhood Education or related field OR a CDA certification.

Experience:
Work experience in positions similar or related to this job
One year of early childhood education experience highly desirable.
Experience in relating to small children, and interacting with parents and others who represent various backgrounds.

Ability to use technology in a professional setting, including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and other software and applications required by the role.

About the Department
The Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences department prioritizes values that reflect those of the university at large including a shared commitment to community, accessibility, diversity, respect and excellence (cadre). We are a collaborative team that includes four full-time faculty, three full-time clinical educators, and a talented group of professional staff and part-time affiliates. We offer both an undergraduate degree in speech, language, hearing sciences and a graduate degree in speech-language pathology, with an optional concentration in bilingual (Spanish-English) service provision. The Bookhardt Family Speech-Language Clinic is a no-cost, on-campus clinic that supports the greater Denver-metro community.
Our department strives to improve how knowledge is translated from the classroom to the clinic by breaking down traditional educational silos. We encourage students to join faculty in clinical research and advocacy efforts. These collaborative projects have received external funding and been shared with national audiences. With the newly launched simulation and skills lab and the opening of the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute Tower in Fall 2027, there are significant opportunities for interprofessional partnerships and community-serving programs.
Position Summary
The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences (SLHS) and the Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program of MSU Denver seeks speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to be part-time clinical educators. This is an hourly position with no benefits with varying hours per week, on an as-needed basis (PRN). Applicants must be able to work in-person, on campus in Denver, Colorado.
The Department is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with clients across the lifespan and from diverse backgrounds, along with a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups. Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Applicants will provide as-needed supervision of graduate student clinicians in the MSU Denver Speech Language Clinic and/or community-based sites as they provide speech-language and cognitive-communication interventions for clients across the lifespan. Clinical Educators will review lesson plans and clinical documentation and provide timely feedback to graduate student clinicians. Clinical Educators must be committed to graduate clinical education and current professional practices and demonstrate ability to quickly learn and use several different technology platforms including Canvas, ClinicNote, VALT and Calipso.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in speech-language pathology
Certification from American Speech, Language, Hearing Association (ASHA)
Have completed a minimum of nine months of practice experience post-certification
and
meet ASHA's 2020 Standards for supervision, including the self-attestation on the ASHA website
Preferred Qualifications
At least two years of experience mentoring graduate students and/or novice speech language pathologists
Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners.
Schedule Information
This is a student-facing position. While virtual supervision may be possible at times, applicants must be able to work in-person, on campus in Denver, Colorado for the majority of student meetings and supervision.
Work hours vary dependent upon departmental and program needs.
