Our assets are comprised of four helicopters as well as a fleet of ambulances dispatched by our communications center "Flightwatch" - all operating 24 hours a day. Helicopter bases are located in Burlington, Aberdeen, Goldsboro, and Rocky Mount. Rotor wing aircraft are staffed with one nurse and one paramedic. They respond to both emergency scene requests as well as interfacility transfers of critically ill patients Our ground assets are located throughout the Triangle. In addition to the Critical Care Transport teams for the majority of our missions, we also have two dedicated Neonatal Specialty Care Teams, which care for our smallest patients. Along with our Medical Directors, the Education Team ensures that the high standards of Carolina Air Care are maintained through continuing education, evidence-based medicine, equipment training, high fidelity simulations, research studies, and new hire assessments. Summary: Provide safe and timely ground transport of patients, while also providing basic and advanced life support care to patients. Responsibilities: 1. Monitors patient condition during ground transport to provide optimal stabilization. 2. Monitors communication equipment and communicates with dispatch personnel, medical staff, family members and other stakeholders: * Ensures relevant information is collected and proper treatment is administered. * Communicates assessments and plan of care in a professional manner with the appropriate personnel. 3. Documents patients' status, delivery of care and evaluation of the patients' response to care according to unit specific procedures and established protocols. 4. Contacts physicians for guidance, as needed, and follows treatment protocols as described by UNC Hospitals Critical Care Transport Medical Direction. 5. Operates medical and mechanical equipment in the pre-hospital, hospital and transport environment. Ensures all various medical equipment is functioning; restocks medical supplies as needed 6. Obtains direction regarding further care from medical staff. Delivers emergency care, such as CPR, oxygen, bandaging and splinting to patients, in accordance with reestablish protocols under UNC Hospitals Critical Care Transport Medical Direction, if necessary. 7. Participates in plan of care for patients who are acutely ill and require transport from referring institutions. This position is located at the Hillsborough Campus. The 163‐bed facility combines a community hospital culture with the innovative procedures and care for which the UNC Medical Center is known.     Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking dedicated and passionate first responder heroes to join our team as Advanced EMTs (AEMTs). AEMTs perform skilled work in providing prehospital medical care to sick or injured persons. The Advanced EMT is an intermediate EMS certification level recognized by the State of North Carolina between the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic level certifications. These positions fill an important care gap between the EMT Basic and Paramedic positions. AEMT is credentialed to provide prehospital medical care above that which an EMT can provide at the advanced level. This includes intubation, intraosseous and intravenous fluid/medication administration, administer intramuscular injections, and administer epinephrine during cardiac arrest. An employee in this class performs advanced lifesaving techniques assigned to the AEMT by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services. Tact, courtesy, and firmness are required in dealing with sick or injured persons and with the general public. Work is performed according to established emergency medical procedures and techniques, but the employee must exercise considerable independent judgment in treating a patients symptoms and in providing basic and advanced patient care.
