Family Support Services CEO and leadership

Ms. Cheryl Smith is the Chief Executive Officer of Family Support Services, a non-profit organization that offers programs and services for families, caregivers, and children whose health and welfare are vulnerable as a result of a variety of circumstances.

Smith’s experience includes leadership roles, managing all aspects of operations, including fiscal, programmatic, marketing, human resource, strategic planning and resource development. In her current position she directs the delivery of high quality programs and services in three Bay Area Counties with a staff of more than 50 full time and 70 part time employees serving over 1200 families a year.

Smith’s professional career spans over 20 years and is a blend of work in non-profit, corporate, and government organizations. Before coming to Family Support Services, she was the Director of Community Affairs for the Lennar Corporation, Executive Director for the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA and early in her career she served as a community educator for the SF Department of Public of Health.

Smith is on the Board of Directors for Young Community Developers, and is a member of San Francisco Negro Business and Professional Women Inc.

Smith received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from San Francisco State University, and completed Leadership San Francisco in 2009.

Smith’s work was recognized by: The Alice Griffith Tenants Association 2014; CDA Consulting Group as one of the most Powerful Woman of the Bay 2013; Young Community Developers as an Outstanding Community Supporter 2013, City Flight Magazine as the most influential African American in San Francisco in Community Service 2005.

She is the mother of two young adults.

Cynthia Carter is a Chief Financial Officer at FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES and is based in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She attended Western Carolina University between 1997 and 1999 and Southern Wesleyan University between 1988 and 1991.

Elizabeth Adeyi is a Chief Operations Officer at FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES and is based in San Francisco Bay Area. She has worked as Executive Director at Montgomery County, PA and Deputy Director at Montgomery County, PA. Elizabeth studied at Georgia State University between 1991 and 1992; Nigerian Law School; and University of Ife, Nigeria.

Kathleen Zawasky is a Chief Financial Officer at FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES and is based in Greater Philadelphia Area. She studied at Bryant University between 1966 and 1970.

Experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the mental health care industry. Strong operations professional skilled in Clinical Supervision, Team Building, Leadership, Program Implementation, and Psychotherapy.

Marcella Melot works at FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES and a CFO at FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES and is based in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
