Overview
SOSi is seeking Spanish Linguists in Seattle, WA to support our federal law enforcement customer. The Spanish Linguist will provide operational support to support linguist and translator duties as assigned by the PMO. The role will involve providing live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation support for our customer's ongoing and upcoming investigations. Additionally, these assignments require the flexibility to work assigned shift schedules, including the possibility of nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will be a computer savvy, “self-starter”, capable of hitting the ground running and flexible to support assignments on very short notice.
Essential Job Duties
Monitor live communication and listen to or read foreign language communications lawfully intercepted, and perform immediate verbal summaries, then subsequent written or typed summaries into the English language.
Transcribe audio/video and written communications to and from source language to English as required.
Interpret consecutively or simultaneously to and from source language to English as required.
Validate by reviewing other's original translation, transcription, or the quality control review of the specified original work in order to attest to the accuracy of the final work.
Summarize by providing concise and accurate synopsis of oral or written communications.
Provide reliable, accurate gist's and summaries of intercepted communication to law enforcement officers.
Attend federal and state legal briefings, known as Title III minimization, prior to the beginning of any new investigation.
Assist law enforcement officers in the preparation of evidence and investigation summaries for the possibility of federal or state trials.
Serve as a “fact” witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify.
Maintain regular communication with the program manager and keeping them informed of available hours/days/shifts for upcoming assignments.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Must be 18 years old or older.
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Residents who are in the U.S. legally and have legal work status. Only contractor personnel who are U.S. citizens will have access to classified documents.
Minimum of one (1) year of translation experience in the required language.
Have demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language as demonstrated through testing. Testing shall have occurred no more than five years prior to the analytic linguist commencing work:
Certified or the ability to become certified in listening, speaking, reading, and writing language proficiency in target native language and English.
Familiarity with specific Intercept Systems is a plus:
Jatom Systems Incorporated (JSI) VoiceBox Intercept System - A digital communications intercept collection system used by law enforcement agencies to conduct court authorized and other lawful communications intercepts.

Job Summary:
Our Linguists are responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding of colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agent(s). The linguist will be responsible for transcribing source documents and recordings from storage media, including but not limited to audiocassettes, videocassettes, or digital media.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Listens to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provides verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as it may be applicable per project.
Responsible for relating all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
Contributes to a master-list of slang words and codes (used by a particular group/organization) for the duration of the project/case.
Maintains a voice library for the duration of the project.
Transcribes and translates pertinent calls and documents as assigned by their supervisor.
Produce court ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
Responsible for using the various reference tools created during the project.
Ability to transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.

Position Summary
The Medical Interpreter/Translator will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and focus on facilitating culturally and linguistically appropriate communication between Public Health - Seattle & King County staff and non-English/limited-English speaking clients primarily in clinic, but also in home and community health settings. This position will be required to provide interpretation in-person as well as via telephone and video.
Background
Community Health Services (CHS) is the largest of 7 divisions in Public Health- Seattle & King County with over 600 employees and an annual budget of $190 million for 2026-2027. Approximately 70,000 clients receive health services annually through the programs, partnerships, and Public Health Centers we operate. The purpose of CHS is to assure that basic health and human services are available to the most vulnerable people in King County. We also assure access to quality services through partnerships and regional programs. We are a Healthcare for the Homeless (HCHN) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grantee and a federally qualified health center (FQHC), providing services to people experiencing homelessness, recent immigrants and refugees, people with medical and behaviorally complex conditions, and people with limited English proficiency. Our direct services include an array of parent child health programs, family health, refugee screening, travel immunizations, dental, and family planning. Our Title X Family Planning provides the full range of family planning services, including pregnancy options counseling and referrals for prenatal care, pregnancy termination or adoption services. Our direct services are located throughout King County and offered at eleven public health centers, in centers where we are co-located with other providers, school-based health centers, and through our mobile medical vans.

Work Schedule
Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm; Wednesdays 9:00am-6:00pm. This position is designated as hourly/non-exempt under the regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which means it is overtime eligible. Job Duties
* Providing Spanish language medical interpretations for the entire Eastgate Public Health Center.
* Client visits focus on primary care, dental care, postpartum health, breastfeeding consult and education, birth control and pregnancy options counseling, injury prevention, and nutrition and linking families to critical resources. Interpret communication between PHSKC Staff and clients in order to provide medical and dental services, including: programs such as WIC, Birth control/STD clinic, Family Health, Dental, Community Access and Outreach, and Pharmacy.
* Interpret for health care providers in the reproductive health clinic to elicit sexual histories from male and female clients, including teens; explain birth control methods and present pregnancy options.
* Interpret in culturally sensitive situations regarding issues such as child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and HIV/AIDS.
* Interpret so PHSKC Staff and clients can fill out a variety of forms for program eligibility, consent, registration, medical history and to explain billing practices and fee collection.
* Interpret information for clients under the direction of PHSKC Staff related to clinical procedures, referrals to specialty care, health and nutrition education, medical treatments or environmental health regulations.
* Provide general information and referrals to Public Health Services and related community, social, and health services.
* Assist in facilitating efficient delivery of Public Health services within productivity guidelines as part of the treatment team.
* Checking and retrieving phone messages, taking appropriate follow-up action, using computer systems to look up clinic schedules, assisting clients with making appointments, and assisting with reminder and referral follow-up calls.
* Explain to PHSKC Staff relevant cultural beliefs and behaviors presented by non-English speaking clients and their communities which may affect health outcomes or create cross cultural conflict.
* Promote and maintain positive interpersonal communication with coworkers, other agencies and the public.
