Alternatives For Girls' Housing Stability team is seeking a Counselor to add to the Dr. Maya Angelou Village (DMAV). DMAV is a permanent supportive housing facility located in Detroit, equipped with resources and amenities including counseling services. Job Summary: The Counselor supports AFG's mission and the goal to deliver intensive therapeutic counseling for individuals, families, and groups as requested by the residents at the Dr. Maya Angelou Village (DMAV) apartments. Key Responsibilities: • Flexible schedule to screen, clinically assess, and process referrals for participant intake. • Assess participants' clinical/psychosocial needs and develop/write individual treatment plans. • Maintain a caseload of at least 25 participants. •Provide crisis intervention and referrals for additional/specialty mental health services. • Provide individual, family, and group counseling per participants' needs. • Facilitate therapeutic groups that meet the specific needs of program participants if needed. • Participate in case conferences as requested to moderate and ensure participant progress. • Maintain accurate and complete treatment files to document dates and services provided. • Complete HMIS documentation as needed. • Prepare monthly reports that document clinical intervention with program participants. The Surgical Counselor handles all surgery scheduling process and advise patients on financial obligations which may include the establishment of payment plans.
