This counselor/social worker may provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, play therapy or conjoint and family therapy according to established treatment approaches for which she or he has specific training and expertise which can be documented through formal or continuing education. This licensed mental health professional is responsible for the comprehensive management of the counseling and psychological services for the patients on her or his caseload. Specific responsibilities of the Counselor include the following: Provides direct counseling and psychotherapy to patients assigned to them by the intake therapist. Conducts a thorough clinical assessment of the patient, which results in a DSM-IV diagnosis, appropriate treatment recommendations, and treatment goals. Maintains appropriate documentation and confidential clinical files on their patients in accordance with general managed care quality assurance guidelines. Seeksout consultation with fellow Cornerstone Care Counselors or the Clinical Director for issues which may require extended treatment or unusual interventions (e.g., hospitalization, referral to other agencies, etc.) or otherwise problematic or troubling to the counselor. Coordinates treatment with other health professionals such as the primary care physician, psychiatrists, etc., when appropriate. Responds to urgent and/or emergency situations which emerge when Cornerstone Care patients reporting acute distress or crises in accordance to the policies and procedures of Cornerstone Care. Provides the highest quality service to their patients in accordance to the standards and practices set forth in their profession's ethics and professional practice guidelines. The candidate must possess a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field Mandatory possession of current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor.
