The Safety Specialist will help to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and aid Safety and Project leadership to develop and maintain a strong Project Safety Roadmap. This position will report to the assigned Project Safety Manager, Senior Project Safety Manager, or Area Safety Manager. + Assist in evaluation of the effectiveness of safety programs through daily field walks and log any observations in our leading indicator system. + Support the Safety team in the execution of project-specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns. + Provide feedback to Safety leadership on observed needed areas for safety improvement and recognition. + Assist in providing coaching to employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors. + Assist with job site-specific safety orientations for new employees joining the project, as applicable. + Assist with basic safety training, testing for all employees (HazCom, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tag-out, etc.). + Support Project Leadership in the completion of incident investigations. + Assist in facilitation of injury/illness cases. + Raise any potential compliance risks to Safety leadership. + Attend the assigned safety meetings each morning: + Ensure that meetings are taking place daily. + Evaluate the participation of the crew and/or whether the foreman gave them an opportunity to do so. + Evaluate meetings and provide feedback to Safety leadership on effectiveness (to be relayed to Project leadership as needed). + Evaluate or identify whether Foreman, GF and Superintendents are following the program elements for how we plan Safety for the project. **Knowledge:** Learns to use professional concepts. Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues. Knowledge of organizational structure sufficient to acquire data and information for the preparation of accurate reports on work hazards, safety activities, and mishaps. Demonstrates broad factual and technical regulatory knowledge with some theoretical basis. **Job Complexity:** Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations/data from which answers can be readily obtained. Performs a range of varied work activities, usually as defined in written procedures, in a structured and specified environment. Work includes preliminary evaluation of accident reports to help identify contributory causes, identification of minor safety and occupational health violations, and preparation of appropriate supporting data. Builds stable working relationships internally. **Supervision:** Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Limited responsibility in known contexts within established parameters. Receives instruction in safety and occupational health techniques, methods, standards and common hazards. Environmental conditions will vary. + Ability to drive (must be physically able to drive with valid driver's license and no driving restrictions). CPR/FA Certified (Trainer Preferred). Area Safety Manager Safety Director The Area Safety Manager will provide safety leadership for all project sites in an entire area. This role is responsible for ensuring facility compliance with corporate safety standards, implementing safety directives, improving safety performance through training and craft engagement in our safety philosophy. Safety Coordinator We are seeking a Safety Coordinator responsible for leading and supporting all safety activities within the facility. This role ensures effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site safety and health policies and procedures. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM position, with some flexibility based on business needs. Occasional Saturday work may be required during plant emergencies. No travel is required. Key Responsibilities * Develop and deliver safety training for all employees, including office and outside sales personnel. * Conduct timely accident and incident investigations; provide prompt reporting to Plant Management and the Site EHS Manager. * Ensure corrective actions identified in safety committee meetings are completed and communicated within established timelines. * Conduct annual reviews of safety manuals and update as needed. * Maintain HazCom compliance and current SDS documentation. * Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.) as required. * Ensure SOPs, JSAs, and LOTO procedures are in place for all new processes, materials, and equipment before use. * Review safety documents such as safety committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspections, accident reports, and near-miss reports. * Maintain records of all employee training, hazard corrections, and workplace inspections; submit required documentation to corporate for recordkeeping. * Perform weekly, monthly, and annual safety inspections. * Manage hazardous material checks and hazardous area inspections. * Oversee annual safety program updates, including the Safety Manual, IIPP, Emergency Procedures Manual, and Emergency Contingency Plan. * Perform other duties as assigned. Startup and Commission Safety Manager Dennis Group safety professionals assist in the development, management, and implementation of a Health and Safety Program for all of Dennis Group's projects. Our projects are vertical, industrial construction projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and sub-contractor trades. Our safety professionals will be responsible for the safety practices of all personnel on our projects. This position requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management, accident investigation and training in the construction industry. The professional will be a member of our safety department and his/her responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Safety Responsibilities: * Assist in developing and implementing health and safety program. * Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities. * Ensure all startup documentation, test procedures, and system handovers comply with internal and regulatory safety standards. * Facilitate and coordinate required safety and awareness training prior to commissioning activities. * Manage the approval and issuance of all permitted Commissioning activities * Lead and manage safety efforts during startup and commissioning phases across multiple project sites or areas. * Develop and implement commissioning-specific safety plans, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and energization procedures tailored to project systems and utilities. * Collaborate with engineers, construction managers, and client teams to identify and mitigate safety risks associated with equipment startup and system commissioning. * Lead and manage safety efforts during commissioning and start up planning and coordination meetings * Develop standardized start up and commissioning standards, procedures and checklists. Tailor to specific project systems and utilities as required. * Must be familiar with federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all current safety regulations. * Prepare and deliver safety toolbox talks and safety training topics for contractors * Prepare, implement and enforce Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Activities Hazard Analysis (AHAs). * Attend and prepare safety actions for pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings including inspection meetings, and periodic progress project meetings. * Conduct and document Jobsite Safety Observations * Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittal * Work with Construction Managers and Sr Safety Managers to establish job site safety procedures and policies during initial project mobilization and as needed during the project. * Review safety programs with client representatives and governmental agencies * Review subcontractor safety pre-qualification submittal * Researching construction safety best practices * Support talent growth within the organization. * Educate and provide training and support to all levels of Dennis Group personnel on accident/injury prevention procedures. Accidents Responsibilities: * Investigate accidents, determine "root causes", and ensure corrective actions are implemented. * Prepare and distribute data reports of accident and incident metrics, such as OSHA recordable and LT rates. Required Education Skills and Experience * Bachelor's degree in engineering, health and safety, risk management, or construction is required. * 2-5 years of experience overseeing safety activities on construction projects. * 2-5 years of work experience in developing, implementing, and coordinating health and safety training and activities for construction projects * 2-5 years of work experience in performing construction job site safety inspections and conducting special studies and investigations related to safety and health for the company * OSHA training certifications and other professional certifications * Ability to travel to job sites throughout North America as required.
