What qualifications do you need to be a crew member?

By Zippia Team - Nov. 10, 2021

In order to become a member of a cabin crew, you need to have the appropriate qualifications for the position you are applying for. The most common cabin crew position is the flight attendant.

Airlines typically provide the initial training for flight attendants, which ranges from three to six weeks. The training usually takes place at the airline's flight training center and is required for FAA certification.

Once a flight attendant has passed initial training, they receive the FAA Certificate of Demonstrated Proficiency and continue to receive additional on-the-job training as required by their employer.

In addition to this training and certification, flight attendants need to have a high school diploma or the equivalent and work experience in customer service. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, be eligible to work in the United States, have a valid passport, and pass a background check and drug test.
