Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC's many dynamic departments. Department Overview: The Strategic Investments Group (SIG) creates and structures impact investments to drive inclusive economic development by enhancing access to capital, mobilizing private investment and supporting the acceleration of EDC initiatives and strategic projects. To realize the vision of equitable, sustainable prosperity, SIG structures and implements impact investments utilizing an array of financing solutions, including the deployment of catalytic investment capital and discretionary tax incentives.
SIG is composed of two teams that facilitate the creation of quality jobs across all five boroughs of New York City, the Incentives team and the Funds and Advisory team.
The Funds and Advisory team originates, structures, and manages multiple fund vehicles that invest catalytic capital in the form of loans, venture capital, hybrid investments, and credit enhancement products. The investment portfolio is dedicated to expanding opportunity and enriching NYC's economy while seeking blended financial and multi-faceted social returns. The team also advises both internal partners and external stakeholders on a range of financial and strategic initiatives.
These programs and vehicles collectively leverage billions of dollars of public and private sector investment.
Intern Responsibilities: The Summer Intern will join the Funds and Advisory team within the Strategic Investments Group. The Summer Intern will assist team members with the impact investment process, including market research, pipeline sourcing, financial analysis, investment structuring, execution, and portfolio management. This internship is ideal for someone who is eager to build foundational experience in impact investing and economic development.
* Develop a working knowledge of impact investing, particularly in the context of NYCEDC
* Support diligence in the form of market analysis, business model evaluation, and financial analysis
* Assist with the preparation of presentations and memorandums-to deal teams, NYCEDC executive staff, and City officials-to inform decision-making
* Assist with updating marketing materials, program overviews, and other external facing collateral
* Support outreach and education efforts to inform other organizations - including investment fund managers, community development financial institutions, real estate developers, investment banks, consultants, and other agencies - about available NYCEDC programs and to learn about what is happening in the broader impact investment ecosystem
* Assist with portfolio monitoring and reporting
* Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on how to further develop and expand SIG's programs, including new impact investment programs as well as strategic opportunities
Qualifications & Requirements:

Interns will support the Investments department within Finance at Equitable Holdings (EQH) and have the opportunity to learn about additional functions through group research projects and networking opportunities with peers in the program.
