Under general guidance of a cook, Food Service Workers assist in simple food preparation by weighing, measuring, portioning, wrapping, peeling and chopping foods as needed. Food Service Workers assemble ingredients according to standardized recipes. Food Service Workers perform a variety of food service tasks in the areas of meal assembly and service, ware washing, sanitation and safety. Food Service Workers are responsible for washing cooking and service items and maintaining the cleanliness and security of the food service area. As needed, Food Service Workers perform any other food service related duties. HJDRC is a year round operation which may require Food Service Workers to work weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Greet guests and welcome them in a friendly manner Take drink orders and follow policy regarding service of alcohol Communicate specials or promotions and make recommendations based on guests' preferences and dietary restrictions Answer questions regarding the menu, including allergies or special requests Servers must know the menu and be able to explain menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to guests Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests and enter them into the POS system Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure all orders are prepared and delivered on time and together Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, ensuring accuracy and good presentation, and timed so the entire table is served within a reasonable time frame Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and address requests/concerns Refill drinks and clear plates as needed during guest's dining experience Provide attentive and personalized service, anticipating guests' needs Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and bring issues to management Collaborate with fellow servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service Present checks to guests and handle payment transactions accurately and quickly As a tipped employee you will be subject to federal (Federal Labor Standards Act - "FLSA") and state laws relating to tip regulations. This includes your compliance with properly reporting tips, contributing to a tip pool (where allowed by law), and following company's policies regarding tasks performed while in a tipped position.
