1963

Fast forward to 1963, and the Kiddie Koop was touched by Tinsel Town.

1967

In 1967, the agency opened a residential treatment center in Altadena – a therapeutic home away from home where severely challenged youngsters could receive nurturing, healing care.

1988

The agency closed the 71-year-old children’s home in September, 1988, after Cahill convinced the board of directors that several dormitories had deteriorated to the point that they were not good places for children to live.

1989

Residents persuaded the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission in 1989 to declare the main house a historical monument to save it from such a threat, he said.

1992

A day-care center, which is in the second phase of Hathaway’s new plan for the site, probably would not open until 1992, Cahill said.

1996

In 1996, The Sycamores opened its first administrative offices in Pasadena – a site that currently serves as Hathaway-Sycamores’ administrative headquarters.
