Work Mode: Onsite Opportunity A food runner is responsible for delivering the food from the kitchen to a guest in a restaurant. They are responsible for ensuring that each guest receives the correct order. A few of the main duties of a food runner are being the final check on quality before the food is delivered to a guest, matching the food ticket to the guest / table, and refilling guest's water, tea, coffee etc. They also need to possess the knowledge to answer any food questions a guest may have.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Have a strong working knowledge of table numbers and seat numbers for the entire restaurant
* Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests' tables rapidly and accurately without confusion of what each guest ordered
* Act as a liaison between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
* Be proficient in handling plate, glass and silverware appropriately
* Be knowledgeable about service standards such as serve from the left and clear from the right
* Be able to confirm special instructions, allergies or modifications have been executed, before the food is delivered to the table
* Assist the wait staff with table setting by placing appropriate tableware, and marking for the next course (e.g. b&b plates for butter)
* Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature) Hot food is served hot, Cold food should be served cold.
* Remove dirty dishes and utensils as needed. The food runner may pre-bus or assist in bussing.
* Answer guests' questions about ingredients and menu items
* Properly and quickly communicate to the appropriate team member when a guest has feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
* Maintain a good knowledge of the details of the outlet, such as hours of operation, history, how to answer the phone etc.

Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures
Set-up and clean the Dining Room while maintaining or exceeding hospitality and service standards

Job Purpose:
Under general supervision, provides prompt and courteous food service to restaurant customers. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they've made the right choice to stay with us.
Responsible for greeting every guest with a smile and positive attitude
Prepare and present items, organize and maintain a clean service area, clean tables and area, and follow all health codes.
Ensures that all guests are dealt with in a professional, consistent manner. Ability to diplomatically handle difficult situations and people.
Take guests' food and drink orders and ensure that all orders are accurate and brought to each table in a timely manner
Assist with setting tables and rearranging tables to accommodate larger parties
