As a Controls Technician, you will become proficient in testing, programming, commissioning, and servicing HVAC control systems and equipment in commercial and industrial critical environments. What you'll do:
Perform start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting for new and existing critical environment control systems and equipment.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.
Install, wire, & checkout of fume hood controls.
Perform wiring, terminations, checkouts, and assist in system start-ups utilizing commissioning tools.
Diagnose, test, adjust, and balance system components to achieve optimal system performance.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including installation records, as-built drawings, programming files, and commissioning reports. Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
Participate in job site meetings and final walk through on assigned jobs and complete all job closeout documentation and customer training.
Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
Attend training courses for multiple manufacturers to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work on the lab control & air monitoring systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Mechanical, electrical, or related technical degree preferred.
1+ years of experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment preferred.
Basic understanding of temperature controls and HVAC systems sequence and applications.
Mechanical aptitude with eagerness to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with customers, mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and fellow employees.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
This role requires frequent local travel to jobsites across Eastern Michigan.
Willingness to work overtime as needed to support critical environment shutdowns on customer's schedule.
Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.

Summary:

* Prep and fusion or mechanical splice SM and occasionally MM fiber optic cables, in both outdoor and indoor settings.
* Construct proper splice cases, pressurized and non-pressurized, using all types and sizes of cable, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing.
* Place mid-sheath splices.
* Work with Construction PM's and/or OSP Engineers to perform splicing as directed.
* Test and troubleshoot fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope.
* Provide the OSP Engineers with detailed reports of field splicing activity.
* Work on call rotation responding and restoring services for emergency calls, responsible for being on the job at short notice to repair damaged cables until service is restored.
* Review and interpret underground/aerial cable records in existing records, on maps or in the field.
* Make precise recommendations for changes in running fiber optic cables or provide input into construction methodologies.
* Participate in engineering, permit and construction processes.
* Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Guidebook).
* Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment.
* Other duties as assigned.

Morbark's Field Service Engineer position works as part of the Product Engineering team, investigating issues customers have with our products. The Field Engineer's primary role is to lead fact gathering for product issues in the field and drive investigation efforts toward root-cause identification and then validation of permanent corrective actions. The Field Service Engineer will also support the Service team to determine appropriate immediate steps to return a customer's equipment to an operational state. The purpose of the Fire Alarm & Security Technician position is to install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire alarm and security systems, and other fire and life safety products with minimal supervision.

Appropriate use of required tools and test equipment such as multi-meter, megger, laptop to program, lifts, etc. to repair or replace fire alarm and suppression system components.
Comprehensive working knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards.
Programing and software knowledge with a variety of fire alarm systems that is used when removing or replacing components.
Safely follow and perform procedures to handle, remove and replace explosive actuators such as squibs and gas cartridge actuators.
Communicate with internal and external customers as well as offsite monitoring companies in a professional manner.
Required to be punctual to required work locations and complete scheduled projects in timely manner.
Use Field Service Lightning to track work orders, materials needed, time on job, etc.
Complete documentation on work orders
Understand and follow SFP's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly Toolbox talks. Employee must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.
Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained as required by company policies.
Alarm Technicians will be placed in on-call status as required by location to handle emergency service requests.
Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.
Train service technician trainees on all applicable aspects of fire protection.
Other duties may be assigned.

Perform start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting for new and existing critical environment control systems and equipment.

Perform wiring, terminations, checkouts, and assist in system start-ups utilizing commissioning tools.
Diagnose, test, adjust, and balance system components to achieve optimal system performance.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including installation records, as-built drawings, programming files, and commissioning reports. Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
Participate in job site meetings and final walk through on assigned jobs and complete all job closeout documentation and customer training.
Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
Attend training courses for multiple manufacturers to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work on the lab control & air monitoring systems.

Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Mechanical, electrical, or related technical degree preferred.
