Job Summary: The Interpreter/Translator provides competent and culturally sensitive Spanish in-person, telephone, and video-remote interpretation for patients and their families/caregivers with Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Serves all sites licensed under Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) license. Maintains working knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulations and organizational policies related to LEP. Documents interpretation in medical record according to established guidelines. Adheres to the Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Practice developed by the California Healthcare Interpreters Association. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service and safe patient care. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum two years of experience as an interpreter in a healthcare setting using in-person, telephone, and video-remote interpretation required.
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, as well as basic knowledge of cultural folk medicine required. Strong customer service background required. Bi-lingual and bi-cultural in English and Spanish required. Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read, write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Basic Qualifications:

Strong familiarity with industry-standard CAT tools (SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Memsource) to improve translation efficiency, ensure project consistency, and reduce turnaround time through optimized use of translation memory system. (The company currently uses Phrase; prior experience with Phrase is preferred).

Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary:
The Language and Cultural Specialist II (Spanish Interpreter), under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Complies with applicable office and hospital policies and procedures particularly relating to patient confidentiality and informed consent. Also assists department with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff interpreters.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
* 2+ years' experience interpreting and translating in a healthcare setting, including experience working with the community and/or a target language population with a diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds.
* Competency in written and verbal communication skills in English and the designated foreign language (Spanish).
* Ability to translate and interpret medical terminology.
* Experience interpreting and translating with patients at a full range of developmental and educational levels.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline preferred.
* Completion of a minimum of 40 hour Healthcare Interpreter training.
* For spoken language interpreters: Healthcare Interpreter National Certification or highest national credentialing (where applicable by language) through CCHI or a national organization.

Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Assists procedural physician (i.
e.
interventional radiologist, vascular surgeon, and interventional cardiologist) in performing angiographic and/or special procedures for the adult and geriatric patient.
Preps room and patient using strict sterile technique.
Coordinates with various departments to achieve optimal patient care.
Must be able to operate and perform diagnostic and C-arm procedures utilizing these systems.
Ensures proper charges are captured on a daily basis.
Able to do diagnostic procedures as needed.
Extended duty and on call time may be required as needed.
In addition, will be required to perform diagnostic imaging and other duties as assigned.

Overview
Position Summary: Under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Complies with applicable office and hospital policies and procedures particularly relating to patient confidentiality and informed consent. Also assists department with on-the-job training and orientation of new staff interpreters.
Minimum Qualifications: Bilingual Spanish Required. 2+ years' experience interpreting and translating in a healthcare setting, including experience working with the community and/or a target language population with a diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds. Competency in written and verbal communication skills in English and the designated foreign language. Ability to translate and interpret medical terminology. Experience interpreting and translating with patients at a full range of developmental and educational levels.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline preferred. Completion of a minimum of 40 hour Healthcare Interpreter training.
