Primary Responsibilities

Job Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a safety program that aligns with regulatory systems, contract strategies and organizational policies and procedures. The purpose of the SSHO is to protect the people, the environment, property, financial and other company, and customer resources. The incumbent advises on changes and their implementation and provides training, tools, and techniques to enable others to achieve safe work practices and environments. The SSHO is accountable for partnering with department leaders to identify and train staff on behaviors and workflows that mitigate and manage risk. This position is designed to establish and maintain a strong safety culture through awareness and commitment, while mitigating risk factors, for operations and maintenance; logistics and transportation; and all supporting contract departments.
Salary Range: $117,000.00 - $127,000.00

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Develop, implement, and maintain Accident Prevention Plans designed for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, governing regulatory authorities and company policies.
* Acts as primary point of contact for all safety incidents; maintains accurate, organized, confidential case files.
* Conducts meetings to investigate incidents, report on findings and recommend actions.
* Acts as primary point of contact to advise, review and accept all contractor safety plans.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures through inspections, training and evaluations while keeping abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
* Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigates and establishes corrective actions for issues and complaints relating to safety and risk.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
* Five (5)+ years of progressive experience with similar site EHS programs or;
* Three (3) years of relevant experience, in addition to holding a CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification or a degree in Safety and Health.
* OSHA 30 Certification (Construction or General Industry).
* Current EM 385-1-1 (40) hour Certificate or obtain the certificate in first 90 days of employment
* Demonstrated experience in the following:
* Drafting safety policies, procedures and/or training documents.
* Investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
* Risk considerations associated with safety plans, work activities, and equipment usage.
* Use of operational metrics to measure a variety of safety stats and/or cost performance.

Serve as the on\-site SSHO, ensuring daily compliance with all project safety requirements.

Prepare, update, and maintain required safety documentation, including:
Accident Prevention Plans (APPs)
Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
Daily reports and toolbox talks
Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.

Act as the primary point of contact for all government and client representatives regarding safety issues.
Participate in weekly progress and safety meetings, providing updates and recommendations.

Requirements
3+ years of construction safety experience; prior federal or military project experience strongly preferred.
