What does a hospital food service worker do?
A hospital food service worker prepares and delivers trays to patients and cleans up afterward. When it is mealtime, the hospital food service worker starts setting out food for each patient.
Color-coded cards tell the hospital food service worker what each patient can and cannot eat, which they then must translate into setting out and delivering meals for each patient. After delivering trays to patients, they may help set up the cafeteria for visiting friends and family.
Once mealtime is over, the Hospital food service worker will collect trays from patients who have finished their food and deliver any extra food, such as desserts, a patient has requested. Then they will clean and wash all the silverware and trays for reuse at the next meal.
