Responsibilities:
* Assist the Project Manager and jobsite leadership in managerial and leadership functions on the project
* Run project control systems for the benefit of the project team
* CPM schedule creation and updating/communicating

Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $68,000-$80,000. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
Travel: This position can be based out of Omaha, Nebraska, Sioux Center, IA, Fort Collins, CO, or Topeka, KS locations. Travel is to be expected around 20%-25% of the time.

Executes planning for projects, including development of the project scope, task organization, estimates of effort and other required resources, and schedules necessary to complete the project. Creates estimate of cost and budget for the project.
Executes internal project setup procedures in accordance with the company's policies.
Directs, manages and participates in the production of the project deliverables including but not limited to: preliminary studies, plans and cost estimates, definition of and oversight of design surveys, designs and plan production, project status/review meetings, specification and contract document development and production.

Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Project Manager
Manage mechanical construction projects including HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems from inception to closeout
Oversee project field staff, subcontractor performance, and vendor compliance while maintaining budget controls
Coordinate project scheduling, construction activities, and resource allocation across multiple jobsites
Monitor project accounting, profitability metrics, and change order management
Maintain professional relationships with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams
Qualifications - Mechanical Project Manager
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical construction project management directly overseeing mechanical construction work
Bachelor's degree in construction, mechanical engineering, or related discipline OR 5+ years mechanical field trade experience/training OR equivalent combination
Valid driver's license with clean motor vehicle record and current vehicle insurance
Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screen
Strong understanding of contract documents, budgets, and safety/statutory compliance
Preferred Qualifications - Construction Project Manager
PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification
Experience with commercial mechanical systems in healthcare, education, or industrial facilities
Proficiency with project management software and Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Knowledge of mechanical codes, OSHA safety standards, and industry best practices
Familiarity with design-build and value engineering processes
Physical Requirements - Mechanical Project Manager
Travel 15-20% to assigned jobsites and company offices throughout the region
Ability to navigate active construction sites including uneven surfaces and climbing stairs
Must meet qualifications to operate a vehicle for company business
Occasional work in various weather conditions and construction environments
Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through written correspondence

Job Description
Olsson specializes in providing multidisciplinary, preliminary, and construction design services for a diverse range of land development projects, including mixed-use, commercial, and residential developments, industrial facilities, sports venues, schools, and various site development types. The Project Manager role serves as a lead project manager for the team, ensuring successful project deliverables and completion for complex and high-priority projects that may span across multiple teams. This position provides project management direction to the team and ensures quality execution of key projects that provide purposeful, high-quality solutions to successfully solve engineering and design needs.
Primary responsibilities include:
Develops project scopes, schedules, and budgets and tracks progress to manage the financial success of projects and ensure timely completion.
Manages complex contract negotiations.
Leads the execution of project plans by assembling and managing project teams, coordinating availability of internal resources, and assigning individual responsibilities ensuring technical skills, capabilities, and expertise align with project objectives.
Monitors progress and measures project performance, ensuring deliverables fall within established scope, schedule, and budget.
Manages change requests, executes risk management techniques, and implements strategies to minimize negative financial impact to the project.
Coordinates detailed reviews of technical work to ensure high-quality work is being performed and the terms, conditions, and specifications outlined in the project contract are being fulfilled.
Maintains an ongoing positive relationship with clients and focuses on exceptional client service to secure future work.
Documents all project deliverables and maintains comprehensive records including correspondence, design plans, and other project related files.
Mentors staff within the team on project management best practices utilizing Olsson Project Management programs and other project support services resources.
